why is dinesh kartik still in the indian team i fail to understand ..i remember him since 2004 when he made his Debut ..ive never seen him perform evan once ..a indian friend of mine told me that he has political backing like shoaib mirza...is it true? iam sure india has batsmens 100 times better then him in domestic cricket .. i know one guy from IPL whos better then him Saurabh Tiwary

I don't think he's fulfilled his potential as a batsman, really. Shown in flashes in limited overs some good all-round technique and temperament but not done enough to,forexample, challenge GG at the top of the order when fit.

as much he get moved around in the order, and also in and out of the side, gets named as replacement and comes in to play... i think he has done good enuff

Doubt that he would have political connections. From what I know about him he comes from a middle class family and his parents moved from UAE to India, once they saw his interest in cricket so he can have the right opportunities. He is a good replacement to have in the squad because of the versatility he offers - he is a good fielder, a back up wicketkeeper, can open the innings, and play in the middle order. So in case of injury or rest to the main players he can fill in a variety of roles rather than the team having to carry 2-3 one on one replacements.

DK has been huge let down . I rated him quite highly in the early days . No obvious technical flaws , great timer ...& more importantly he sees the ball very very early ...had/has everything to bcom a world class batsmen ..unfortunately one important aspect he lacks is, capacity to build innings or get big scores ...its so annoying to see him gift his wickets once set & I have a feeling hes one of those who will never learn . I will pick him for T20s without a blink though . Hes very underrated as a finisher .

he is just not taking his game to the next level. lacks the boldness in approach that raina has. he seems more conservative in approach. raina is fast joining the seniors in ODI as a reliable batsman. karthik shud have been there as well by now. but i would be more happy with vijay back. vijay will be the more important player in the coming years.

He is good enough to be in squad of 15, but not good enough to be squad of 14

He needs to be given a consistent run of 10-12 ODIs with a fixed batting slot. I am sure he will do better than most youns batsmen.

Personally I think he tries too hard to impress in an effort to cement his place in the team. It's the kind of phase that GG went through, until he was given confidence about his position in the team. Though DK position is different, as if we field our full strength team, then the only potential weak spots we have is our no6 and maybe no5, where competition is severe.

He is not an opener. We are wasting him as an opener. He should play in MO. I have seen him finish well for Delhi IPL team, the team that has Sehwag, Dilshan, Gambhir, De Villiers, he managed to out perform all of them He can run well, rotate the strike, can innovate etc. He should not open.
