Do you have kids or are you in a armchair (just like your critiques on cricketing matters!)? Have you handled kids on a daily basis? I am not saying it's OK to hit kids, but everyday is not sunday.

I think you should allow the death sentence for children by their parents for wrong behaviour. Even beating the child doesnt stop their mischief, does it? The only solution to this is to take it a step further. Lets say you have 7 kids and one is seriously misbehaving, you can make an example out of one of them. You can control the others as a result and this beats having 7 rowdy children getting beaten all the time of getting 'convinced' by 'forceful talking' on discipline. How else can you control these kids?

Teachers should never hit a child. If a teacher is having problem with discipline he/she should take help and advice from other teachers or the Principal. As for parents...hitting does not help in the long run but there are times when parents do need to resort to it .Most of us were hit from time to time and at least in my case I can say I am a better person for it.Given a choice between getting grounded or getting slapped by a parent I am sure I would have chosen the slap. As a parent I have resorted to it a few times. 1)Once she was hitting me with a toy (as she probably didn't know what she was doing and didn't realise it hurt).I told her to stop it a few times but when she didn't I took the toy and gave the same treatment back to her(very lightly). She cried but hasn't ever repeated it on anyone. My hubby approved of it and I don't feel guilty about it. 2) She liked to pull hair...not just ours but anyone's who was within range. Finally a ligt pull on her hair with a "that hurts no ?"and a stare has sorted out that problem. 3)She would keep grabbing at my cup of tea and finally one day I let her touch it...now she doesn't .(this doesn't count as hitting but falls in the same category) OK maybe i do feel a bit guilty....:((

I have done both ...as a teacher and now as a parent.Disciplining your own child is far more difficult. You can't even complain to anyone....:nervous:

There was a classmate of mine in Grade 4 who called 911 and had his parents questioned once he found out about the facility. Reason : His Dad used to force him to drink milk, which he despised, every morning.

I've dialed 911 as well by mistake. For dialing to Delhi you would have to dial 011-91-11-xx. In my hungover state, I missed the 011 part, I suspect your Dada/Dadi also had a bit of Johnnie Walker.
