ZodiaC Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 What kind of strategy is that???? This is not ICF's SuperSelector replacement guys. That you replace to win points. Just understand the world cricket. At least TEST cricket. We need to build the team. If the guy who scored 50+ in 10+ consecutive matches will be dropped because he is little out touch then how will we build the team. For not so important games, drop SRT, VVS or RD. But continue playing, GG, VS, MV at least. As and when, play Pujara and Raina. I will never talk of dropping GG and MV. Vijay has been around for a while. He is gaining good experience. Once he becomes solid, we can always bring in Pujara for Dravid. I dont see RD lasting more than 6 months. But until he retires, he should be in the team as well. I was just responding to the thread  Doesn't mean that I want dravid and gambo dropped :--D I've posted in various threads that RD should be persisted with until he wants to voluntarily retire.
ZodiaC Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 Dudes' date=' we need RD for SA, so chillax maadi[/quote'] howdu :--D
vvvslaxman Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 Don't dream about Raina getting replaced by Pujara. Raina is Dhoni's right hand. He has strong faith in him. Most of the time he repays the faith. pujara is now competing with Dravid nobody else. Vijay is actually backup opener for Gauti. So Vijay and Pujara don't compete with each other. We have Rahane, Kohli, Mukund in line. One thing is clear. Yuvraj and Badri may not play Test again.
King Tendulkar Posted October 13, 2010 Author Posted October 13, 2010 Right had a good think about this now. Dravid cant be replaced yet. He has to my cricket eye looked in great nick both in SL and current series. He will be invaluable in SA and Eng tour were his experience and ability to play in such conditions will be precious. I believe he will deliver(he did deliver in mohali and snd innings here). Other newbies are unknown how they will do in these conditions and when oppo has had good look at them to formulate plans etc. Gambhir is undroppbale. Been superb and was recently number 1 ranked player, dont drop a player for a few low scores. Basically Raina/Vijay/Pujara have to fight it out for one spot. My gut instinct tells me pujara is the best but cant go all in for him based on one knock. Vijay did well as well with a ton. However, raina has done nothing wrong since being in test team. Yes people raise question marks about short ball etc. But they could all be total BS. He is the man in possession so he stay in for SA tour and lets see how he does. If he flops other 2 will be waiting in wings for england tour! My top 6 1. Sehwag 2. Gambhir 3. Dravid 4. Tendulkar 5. Laxman 6. Raina

Sooda Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 Im not sure Pujara and Raina are competing for one spot as no 6 is too low for Pujara. He should bat at 4 or 5. Raina at 6 ; Vijay and Pujara the other batsmen in the squad.

Atleast give him some chance that Yuvraj got.
Sooda Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 Yes Badri bechara did not really deserve to have his career cut off so short. Sadly tho his time has come and gone.
yoda Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 What wrong Badri has done? He has played only 3 innings and scored a Gutsy 50. Atleast give him some chance that Yuvraj got. His wrong was that his prime was when there were no batting slots available. Even when it opened up occasionally, Yuvraj and Kaif were there ahead of him.
fineleg Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 His wrong was that his prime was when there were no batting slots available. Even when it opened up occasionally' date=' Yuvraj and Kaif were there ahead of him.[/quote'] Yes. Badri could have had a longer run, but he was at the wrong time.

Raina Pujara over Raina, any day of the week. i like Raina's guts and the way he can dominate bowlers but Pujara is different class altogether.

coffee_rules Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 ^ 21* when Pujara had done the damage work..It's called riding on his coattails. Anyway, Pujara and Vijaya are replacements. Unless one of the 6 batsmen are injured, no need to replace them. keep them in the loop (put them in ODI/T20 etc)/.
Andy Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 Me neither. :hatsoff: :giggle: Saar, My point is if he can still make as many runs as he did, He should not be overlooked. Yuvraj should be dumped permanently. We still can keep Badri among the scheme of things.
saneindian Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 Will Gambhir be feeling the heat of Vijay's knocks as well? He has been inconsistent since the SA series and has had far too many freak injuries. THough his importance to the team cannot be questioned, but a good show by Vijay in ODIs could make life tough for Gambhir. During the Aus ODIs, if there is an opportunity he should go back to play some Ranji games and get his confidence back. I think from IPL onwards, he has rushed through his comeback after the injuries and fitness wise has not been ready for international cricket. This time he should play 2-3 Ranji games before coming back to int'l cricket.
IKnowU Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 The worst to do is drop a guy like Raina. You guys just look at his batting performances alone, which are still good enough to warrant his spot. Have you guys noticed what difference he makes on the field? Little things like this mean so much in tests, but you guys choose to ignore it. Just because Pujara convinced us he can play at Test level doesnt mean we have to go out of our way to find a spot for him in the XI. The spot will come naturally in the future, just ride the waves for the moment.
Andy Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 Yeah please drop Pujara. Bring in Jadeja, Yusuf. They add extra dimension to our team with their fielding.

Bradman99 Posted October 14, 2010 Posted October 14, 2010 The only real choice to make there is Pujara or Raina? Take your pick.
