there was a story in the madras cricket circle about TE, as he was affectionately referred to: he was selected for a tour down under, in the early 80's under Gavaskar's captaincy- the series when Gavaskar-Lilllee show down happened. there were 3 tests in Australia and 3 in NZ if i recall correctly. during a 3 days practice match,Dennis Lillee was bowling and he had picked up 3 quick wickets and was bouncing the batsmen, leaving them with ball marks on the body.when the next batsman went in to bat, it seems TE shouted as he was tieing his pads,"tell Dennis that TE is coming in next":two_thumbs_up: TE was an All time great tamil nadu ranji batsman and was a star for south zone too. technically very correct, a grafter, some times he scored quickly too, once 129* in a deodhar trophy match. RIP

here is cricinfo article about him. He was among the finest Indian batsmen, and had a colourful personality that lent itself to several apocryphal tales. It's a pity how he was ignored back then and even now in death

yeah,I picked that up from Cricinfo.. I am not impressed either...why didn't they show respect ..he was a former test player
