ShahidAfridi Posted January 9, 2011 Posted January 9, 2011 Asif averages 24 Zak averages around 30 People always go on about Asif's off field activities because they know on the pitch he is the worlds best bowler alongside Dale Steyn. Zak is a good hard working bowler and he is a good servant for his country but comparing his actual bowling to Asif is a joke. Zak - More reliable and decent bowler Asif - Dodgy but way better bowler
Asoka Posted January 9, 2011 Posted January 9, 2011 If only India had a bowler as talented as Asif,we would have become unstoppable.
yoda Posted January 9, 2011 Posted January 9, 2011 We are yet to see Asif NOT on drugs, so tough to compare.
Anakin Posted January 9, 2011 Posted January 9, 2011 If only India had a bowler as talented as Asif' date='we would have become unstoppable.[/quote'] Thanks, but no thanks
Silva Posted January 9, 2011 Posted January 9, 2011 Zaheer is more valuable but asif is a much better bowler. look at some of his pitch maps and you'll see how insanly accurate he is.
yoda Posted January 9, 2011 Posted January 9, 2011 All of you guys raving about Asif's bowling, do you know for sure if he was clean during any of his so called great spells? For example, the Karachi test where he bowled well against us, was he taking drugs then? I don't know and can't give him the benefit of doubt cause he has been caught with drugs in his pee or pants several times. So, essentially, he could have been on drugs ever since his debut. If someone is on drugs, their performance simply cannot be taken into account.
mastana Posted January 9, 2011 Posted January 9, 2011 Is this even a comparison? Zaheer is in his own league. Asif only performs on green tracks while Zaheer knows how to perform without charas, ganja and beedi on flat tracks. If you are so concerned about comparing Asif with an indian bowler then compare him with Munaf Patel. Nuff said.
ShahidAfridi Posted January 9, 2011 Posted January 9, 2011 Drugs do not help you play cricket. Asif only bowls 80mph so he hasn't added any pace because of drugs. Asif smokes and that is why his pace drops down to 80mph How do drugs help a bowler who doesn't rely on his speed?

I watched Asif in England this year vs Australia and he was sensational and the pitch was not a green track
Laaloo Posted January 9, 2011 Posted January 9, 2011 I watched Asif in England this year vs Australia and he was sensational and the pitch was not a green track And I saw ZAK play against England in 07 without overcast conditions and he was sensational
ravishingravi Posted January 9, 2011 Posted January 9, 2011 Depends on the tracks. I have only watched Asif or Aamer do anything on green tracks. But Zaheer for best part of his career has had bowl on patta wickets and even then he is major match winner for his team.
ravishingravi Posted January 9, 2011 Posted January 9, 2011 I watched Asif in England this year vs Australia and he was sensational and the pitch was not a green track You must watch cricket more closely then. It was greenest Sydney wicket in history.
vayuu1 Posted January 9, 2011 Posted January 9, 2011 well green wicket or flat though zaheer is our main strength ,but asif was indeed a naturally gifted and smart bowler ,however zaheer is more hardworking ,asif knew his limitations and bowl within himself, but the thing which turned zak into match winner was his stint in county he realise his weaknesses and worked acc. to it,i hope bcci allows our bowler to play in county or the aus.domestic cricket it will help them for sure.asif though was more gifted but unfortunately him and aamer will be known for wrong reason, i wish pak cricket was more competitive and we see more indo-pakseries .coz like it or hate it they are our neighbours and there is a saying which goes for them as well,it says"you can choose your friends, but you can never choose ur neighbours",hope they are sensible
Equinox Posted January 9, 2011 Posted January 9, 2011 Asif is the better bowler but Zaheer has been the better performer.
jf1gp_1 Posted January 9, 2011 Posted January 9, 2011 Asif is the better bowler but Zaheer has been the better performer. i finally get what our friends from Pak are trying to explain; Sanjay Manjrekar was a better batsman than Inzi but Inzi was a better performer even then on talent alone manjeraker was a better batsman than Inzi
gult Posted January 9, 2011 Posted January 9, 2011 Asif is the better bowler but Zaheer has been the better performer. What's the difference? Who ever performs better is the better bowler?
Equinox Posted January 9, 2011 Posted January 9, 2011 ^Meaning: Talent and ability: Asif Work ethic and determination: Zaheer
Pak_Forever Posted January 9, 2011 Posted January 9, 2011 I guess you haven't seen Asif bowling to Lankans or plain tracks, and how can you forget what he did you Indians on a flat wicket? Ability wise forget comparison with Zaheer, Asif is better than Steyn. He literary makes the ball talk regardless of the condition of the pitch. Had he not missed countless number of games due to his own stupidity, he would have been a legend by now. Asif is/was once in a lifetime bowler.

There are times ball would be zipping around. Remember you guys were pwned by Tushara with ball swinging all over. On Indian pitches he would have been a cannonfodder Wasn't Asif *****ing about MCG pitch being flat like faisalabad pitch? http://www.espncricinfo.com/ausvpak09/content/story/441255.html
