cowboysfan Posted March 6, 2011 Posted March 6, 2011 Ojha would have been devastating on Indian pitches. I dont know why he is always sidelined. He is even the highest wicket taker and most economical in IPL. He is also in our test team and picks wickets. we need a mysterious injury to chawla so that we can get ojha back in the squad.
Silva Posted March 6, 2011 Posted March 6, 2011 Ojha Bhajji and Yuvi could have really chocked the runs from the middle overs even on Flat pitches. That was a dumb mistake the selectors made, chawla is the same bowler he was when he last played international cricket. I like Ashwin as well so maybe the selectors got away with one. But IMO Ojha was the best ODI spinner we have.
Manny_Pacquiao Posted March 6, 2011 Posted March 6, 2011 i dont think the selectors picked chawla. chawla was picked on dhoni's request because he wanted a leg spinner
vvvslaxman Posted March 6, 2011 Posted March 6, 2011 Few guys who could have come in place of him 1) Pragyan Ojha 2) Ramesh Powar 3) Murali Kartik or someone like 4) Abhishek Nayar
achilles Posted March 6, 2011 Posted March 6, 2011 ^ 1,2,3 check. 4 is injured and not international ready yet, IMO.
Ravi. Posted March 6, 2011 Posted March 6, 2011 Imran Tahir has taken 11 wickets in his first 3 international matches and on the other hand experienced Chawla is bowling like a club level bowler.
zen Posted March 6, 2011 Posted March 6, 2011 But Chawla didn't bowl too badly If I had to decide b/w picking your poetry or Chawla's bowling, I would pick your poetry .... Nice work :nice:
Mariyam Posted March 6, 2011 Posted March 6, 2011 If I had to decide b/w picking your poetry or Chawla's bowling' date=' I would pick your poetry .... Nice work :nice:[/quote'] Thank you :icflove: On second thoughts, thats a back handed compliment, if I ever saw one. :P
Sooda Posted March 6, 2011 Posted March 6, 2011 But Chawla didn't bowl too badly Better poet than Ghalib :adore: He does provide useful variety with the plethora of offies and Yuvrajs left arm in the side. Plus he fields better than Ojha. In fact he is an ok fielder, that butter chicken rogan gosh line is a bit unfair. Tahir is far more experienced, still though it was below par performance. maybe it is time for Ashwin.
therocky Posted March 6, 2011 Posted March 6, 2011 Chawla should be replaced by another batsman, He is useless.
saneindian Posted March 6, 2011 Posted March 6, 2011 CHawla got picked, was the best bowler in practice matches, got picked ahead of Ashwin. Unfortunately could not do as well as he is capable of (pressure, lack of confidence etc). It happens. Thankfully with Ashwin in the team, we have a handy replacement available. Let's not be too harsh on his selection. I still have a feeling as the tournament goes on, at some stage he will play an important role as the pitches start to turn more.
vvvslaxman Posted March 7, 2011 Posted March 7, 2011 How is this dude Iqbal Abdulla? He looked good in the few matches i saw. He also made a century in first class.
pinkfreud Posted March 7, 2011 Posted March 7, 2011 He's OK' date=' not brilliant, but yes, under pressure he is looking even worse. If he can't perform on this pitch against the Irish then there are serious issues of temperament.[/quote'] ++
Switchblade Posted March 7, 2011 Posted March 7, 2011 How is this dude Iqbal Abdulla? He looked good in the few matches i saw. He also made a century in first class. Was he the one who played during IPL1 for KKR?
zen Posted March 7, 2011 Posted March 7, 2011 Thank you :icflove: On second thoughts, thats a back handed compliment, if I ever saw one. :P If I said that your poem as good as Ghalib's, you would say I am being sarcastic .... so there is no way out of this, i guess :P
Manny_Pacquiao Posted March 8, 2011 Posted March 8, 2011 How is this dude Iqbal Abdulla? He looked good in the few matches i saw. He also made a century in first class. he looks like a good player, but i think he might be another r. jadeja at the international level. lets hope not
