pensionplan Posted January 23, 2011 Posted January 23, 2011 Is there a way for me to vote for two options - This way can vote out YS for his lack of play on most occasions and his attitude plus Raina on account of his recent form should not be in the playing XI. I would like PP in place of either one of them as of now. I know PP is not in the WC 15 but we can have something like - SRT, VS, PP, GG, VK, YP and MSD would be the best best since the likes of VVS are not considered for the ODI's. But if I was have to choose one among YS to SR absolutely to be among the playing XI it would be Raina for the positivity he brings to the fold and for being a very good team guy.
zen Posted January 23, 2011 Posted January 23, 2011 What 11 the team management picks is not up to us, iiirc, what we are discussing is according to us what should be in the playing 11 :winky:
Online Posted January 23, 2011 Posted January 23, 2011 Whom would you drop to accommodate Yusuf? It's a good selection conundrum to have. Yuvraj is impossible to drop because he is more of a bowling all rounder now. Raina is a killer on home turf but on current form he seems the likeliest candidate. I think player fitness/injuries on the game day will have the final say. Sehwag Sachin Gambhir Kohli Yuvraj Yusuf Dhoni Bhajji Praveen Zak Munaf
Sachinism Posted January 23, 2011 Posted January 23, 2011 I think you are right..Raina is veru close to Dhoni and has full faith in him. Unless Kohli provides an option of useful medium pace bowling (ala Collingwood) during the middle overs' date=' I don't see Kohli being selected.[/quote'] All of this is irrelevant, coz Dhoni has a pet goat, which he's had since childhood and Dhoni will play him in the side coz thats what Dhoni does picks players who he's close to

I think player fitness/injuries on the game day will have the final say. Sehwag Sachin Gambhir Kohli Yuvraj Yusuf Dhoni Bhajji Praveen Zak Munaf I wouldn't mind that X1 at all. One thing I would probably do is swap Yuvi and YP's batting positions. YP doesn't waste too many balls either to get going or get out so what he does at 5 would help us plan our innings better. Ofc he fires then the RR will skyrocket with the oppositions morale going down, if he fails them Yuvi/Raina and Dhoni can do what's needed .... Also #5 is a good time for him to come unless he has to come in the first 15 overs or so.
vvvslaxman Posted January 23, 2011 Posted January 23, 2011 I think Kohli will be the one who misses out because Dhoni has decided to go with 4 specialist bowlers. Raina' date='Yuvi & Yousuf will share remaining 10 overs. Kohli also has a [b']weakness of failing in big games like against Pakistan in CT, few finals in SL and bow today the decider against SA. He might be dropped. But definitely not for this reason. It was not an important game. It was just the first game. And he had barely started his career. He scored 79 not out in the very next match against West Indies.
Sachin=GOD Posted January 23, 2011 Posted January 23, 2011 I want the super-sub rule back for the World Cup :whine:
wanted_desi Posted January 23, 2011 Posted January 23, 2011 Don't discount Raina's fielding abilities. We can never imagine winning WC without good fielding. Raina must play even at the cost of Viru. Hello Raina, Welcome to ICF. Why did you play that ridiculously shot shot. :giggle:
yoda Posted January 24, 2011 Posted January 24, 2011 Tough decision for Dhoni. Weird thing is, Kohli/Raina/Yousuf will be fighting for 2 spots, with useless Chawla walking in uncontested. :hehe:
IKnowU Posted January 24, 2011 Posted January 24, 2011 Dropping Raina:hysterical: Only in India where fans have mood swings of a pregnant women. :giggle:
yoda Posted January 24, 2011 Posted January 24, 2011 where will chawla walk in :hmmmm: 4th bowler spot
fineleg Posted January 24, 2011 Posted January 24, 2011 Kohli and Yusuf Pathan will be in the starting 11 for initial matches (esp. since YP does bowl a few overs too) One of Gambhir, Yuvi or Raina will be dropped. Yuvi is a bowling allrounder now, so it may be between Gambhir and Raina.
IKnowU Posted January 24, 2011 Posted January 24, 2011 It should be Gambhir, Raina, Yuvraj, Kohli and Dhoni Yuvraj should be dropped if he fails and replaced by Yusuf. Yuvraj is turning into harbhajan, saving his ass by bowling well when hes supposing to be batting well :headshake:
yoda Posted January 24, 2011 Posted January 24, 2011 zak munaf pk bhajji :dontknow: well there will be slow pitches where he will be an automatic I think ahead of pk or munaf.
IKnowU Posted January 24, 2011 Posted January 24, 2011 How about dropping Bhajji :hmmm: :omg: :whack: Thats haraam. Along with Yuvraj. They cant never be dropped. They are invaluable to the team. :winky:
Watson87 Posted January 24, 2011 Posted January 24, 2011 How can you even think about putting Dhoni there? He's going to lead our team to World Cup victory next month, you want a change in captaincy just before the tournament? This is Indian Cricket not PCB where even Shoaib Akhtar can be a captain any minute.
bihutoli Posted January 24, 2011 Posted January 24, 2011 Yusuf provides all the skills Yuvraj is purported to have, bats like a demon and bowls his slower ones at the batsmen's pads. So Yusuf is imo a replacement for Yuvi. The rest select themselves. SRT VS GG VK SR MSD YP HS PK AN ZK If I had my way I'd replace MSD with PP, but the thought may be to radical for our selectors and our DCS coterie.
