Oscar Otero Aguilar, who worked in a pet shop, is said to have been drinking with friends in Medero, in the north of the capital, Mexico City, when the accident happened. A follower of the “selfie” craze - in which people pose for photographs they take of themselves - Otero Aguilar frequently posted pictures of himself on social media sites. He had been at home with with his two housemates, Omar Abner Campos Vives and man known only as “El Paco,” when neighbours heard a gun go off followed by screaming. One neighbour, Manfredo Paez Paez, 57, said: ”I heard a gunshot, and then I heard somebody screaming and realised somebody had been hurt. I called the police straight away and when they arrived they found that he was still alive. Mr Otero Aguilar was discovered with a gunshot wound to the head, and succumbed to his injuries while being taken to hospital by ambulance. An autopsy has been scheduled. Campos Vives, who was arrested at the apartment, told police Mr Otero Aguiar had been playing around with the borrowed gun and decided to take a selfie without realising it was loaded. Police are now seeking El Paco, who fled when they arrived. The Ministry of Public Security told Proceso Mr Otero Aguilar's death appeared to be an accident, with the “selfie” due to be posted to Facebook. Previous snaps on his Facebook site show him posing with alcoholic drinks, cars, motorbikes and a number of attractive women. Meanwhile, a teenager in Florida has been killed after apparently being shot in the chest during a game of Russian roulette. Maruyama Zoo in Sapporo said it had been given the spotted hyenas, Kami and Kamutori, as a "male and female pair" as part of an exchange with a South Korean zoo in 2010. After the two animals struggled to reproduce, the zoo conducted a gender test under anaesthesia. The results confimed that Kami, the now five-year-old "female", was actually a male. A statement from the zoo said "the external genitalia of the male and female are similar", making identification of sex "very difficult". beetle Posted October 4, 2014 Share Posted October 4, 2014 Selfie on rail track turns fatal for Puttur student MANGALORE : Snapping a selfie on a scenic stretch of a railway track in Nehru Nagar, Puttur, turned fatal for Varsha Alva, 19, a second-year BE student, when the Subrahmanya-Puttur-Mangalore passenger knocked her down. Varsha was killed on the spot, while Rachana lost her arm. Varsha and her friends, students of Vivekananda College of Engineering and Technology, Puttur, 50 km from Mangalore, were returning to their hostel across the railway track around 2.30pm Sunday. Varsha is a resident of Derebail in Mangalore, while Rachana is from Vittla. It's still not clear what happened: some reports say the girls were absorbed in taking photographs and failed to see the train approaching. Others say that the girls spotted the train a little late and tried to rush off the tracks, when they were hit from the rear. The impact was so severe that part of Varsha's skull was ripped off, police said. Varsha succumbed to her injuries before she could be taken to hospital. Cable TV stations showed the lion ripping a jacket off the man as he stood in a grassy enclosure that held two of the animals. The second lion did not join in the attack. Without panicking, the man fell back onto a stone ridge, and the lion then jumped at him, biting him in the arm. It also clawed at his trousers before retreating. The man then calmly stood with his arms outstretched in front of the two animals. The witness, Hsu Li-jen, told the station CTI that the man shouted: "Jesus will save you!" Guards drove the lions away with water hoses, and police shot them with tranquilizer darts.
