When will we host our own world cup

Sharing is caring. Why we need all the wc by ourselves? Doesn't make sense. It should be shared within the subcontinent. I don't wanna see every third worldcup in subcontinent..that will happen if every subcontinental team starts holding their own worldcup.

why would the other 3 sub continent boards vote for us if they are not getting a share of the pie?
Wrong. India can alone host it,but then the other subcontinental countries will never be able to host the WC as they dont have the finances to do so.Just like NZ can never hope to hold a WC and hosts it with AUS. India gets its votes because it has the finances. It contriols 75% of crickets finance. Seriously speaking we all know the financial condition of the rest of the asian cricket boards.

I think Cricket is the only sport where the WC is shared between countries. Must be tirring for the players.
Well you are right to some extent as the world cup sharing system in other sports( Especially Football ) is concerned but dont forget that the 2002 Fifa Wold Cup was jointly co-hosted by South Korea- Japan , it was also the first time when Fifa World cup was being hosted by an Asian country.

Opening ceremony should have been in Pakistan Lahore, I been there and it's a beautiful country, too bad our brother missed out Inshallah next next world cup will be hosted in Pakistan, by that time i can watch with my son

India can't hold it by itself, we have to carry others in the sub-continent. If India were to hold world cup by themselves, then Bang, Pak, and Sri lanka would never be able to have any world cup matches. Sad, but thats the price we got to pay.

India could push for it but the smaller boards will not agree. Since BD+SL or NZ cannot host a WC, they would never accept it. Since ICC works by votes from all its test members, only SA and WI remain from "India's vote group" that wont get affected by this. NZ will pressure Aus and England to not to vote for this. Anyway, BCCI will not even push for such an initiative. ICC controls the WC, so it makes no difference to BCCI if they host it jointly or alone. Hopefully, T20 WC retains the 1 country format.

I don't see what the deal is in hosting a cricket WC by ourselves, it would be a walk in the park. The challenges lie in hosting other major tournaments in the world of sport, which is what we should be talking about.

i'd much rather see india host it by themselves. majority of indian stadia are far better than anything our shltty neighbors have, produce far better atmosphere and we can guarantee big crowds for every game without ticket problems or anything (see whats happening in bnaghlahdesh right now). india has hsoted big multi-national sporting events in the past and they really dont need the other subcontinental losers playing tag-along

Why was the Ind Eng game moved to bangalore then?

because west bengal is stuck in the 1800s, and is still a communist ruled toilet which hasnt kept up with the rest of india. not much can be done about that.

I like this format better as the home games will bring in more fans to the stadium. India is playing all its matches at home anyways. It also gives countries like Bangladesh some spotlight like hosting the opening ceremony.

never going to happen mate? Same reason Australia can't have it on its own, they have to take Newzealand with them
I would love to know why Australia hasn't hosted more world cups. They clearly have the best cricketing facililities in the world with the most conducive weather.

Agreed. I think the sub-continent got its share way too quickly. Would love to see a WC in Australia.

Would not say all our neighbor's stadias are *****y. Gaddafi Stadium,Lahore and National Stadium,Karachi are 2 very good stadias. Premadasa is also a good stadium when filled to capacity.

4 out of 9 test nations are in the subcontinent. So 45% of the WC should be here or almost every other WC. We are hosting after 15 years. Its not that bad.

Yeah but 87 then 96 and then again 2011. And Australia got its chance only 1992 and I think that was a very well hosted cup. I dont have any problems with it being hosted in Sub-continent but we got it back too soon as compared to say Austraila.

It will change now. Australia in 2015, England in 2019, Probably SA in 2023, WI in 2027 and it will be 2031 before it returns to the subcontinent. Up untill 1987, the World cup never went outside in England . Since 1992 if you look at it every big Cricket nation has had its turn. Between 1992-2007 we completed a cycle and the cycle begins now again in 2011.
