Should Bhaji be guaranteed a spot?

I dont think its that simple at all. Going under 6 an over can be valuabuale even for a specialist Bowler if playing on a pitch were the par score is 320+. IMO a bowler should either contain or take wickets.
The difference is the par score on the pitch was not 320+. All the spinners got turn, Yuvraj picked up 5 wickets and Indian batsmen couldnt play their shots freely.
Bhajji has been containing and who knows maybe if the likes of sreesanth and chawla weren't leaking so many runs he would have some more wickets to his name as well because it would force the opposition to take more risks against him.
Then what's the difference between Bhajji and Yusuf Pathan ? If he is a strike bowler, he should have bowled an attacking line and length. He was more than happy just to concede singles, drifting down to the leg stump most of the time. The Irish batsmen couldnt take advantage of it because they are not good enough and also were trying to build a partnership. Batsmen from other teams would be far less forgiving.

So Manny according to you Indias tactics are to get Bhaji to contain the batsmen and then use part timers to buy wickets?
Yuvraj singh is our main bowler. Even in the last match against SA chawla and bhajji bowled 15 overs took no wickets. Yuvi took 2 wickets in 7 overs.

I think he has completely forgotten that he is supposed to be strike Bowler for Team India ...instead we are now left with only Zak as our Strike Bowler...the Job he did in last match can be done by any Pie chucker like Yuvi (did better) or Raina ?..the other big issue with India team is its very defensive in mind set...any new batsman is greeted with Spread field like in England match ...No9 or 10 had no attacking fielders in circle !!

Regarding the OP, you can't drop your premier spinner in the middle of the WC from the playing XI. That's like SL dropping Murali. His experience will come through when we need it, I hope. The question now is regarding the second spinner.

Harbhajan can take wickets provided he alters his trajectory.
WELL THAT IS YET TO HAPPEN IN TESTS...IN ODI HE IS CONTENT WITH FLAT TRAJECTORY TO STOP RUNS...IT IS MORE TO DO WITH HIS DECLINE IN LAST 3 YEARS ...HE HAS RESIGNED TO FACT THAT IF BATSMAN MAKE MISTAKE HE WILL GET THEM INSTEAD OF OPPOSITE....HE IS LUCKY TO BE IN A ERA WERE NO GENUINE INDIAN SPINNER IS EMERGING..(THE CHAWLAs,OHJAs, PAWARs,ASHWINs are showing promise but not a threat to him)

Bajji can consistantly bowl 10 overs without getting hit out of the attack much more often than Yuvi or Pathan. And your ignoring the fact that the first two pitches where very flat and him containing the batsman did help India alot. This pitch wasn't flat and didn't bowl well but he still didn't go for runs and he did put pressure on the Irish which is probably why they played so many loose shots against Yuvi.

He won't be dropped. But criticism will be there. In the last 2 years among our main spinners Bhajji has the worst strike rate which is 46 plus apart from Chawla whose strike rate is 75 and Jaddu 51. Ashwin has the best strike rate which is 28. Yuvi has a strike rate of 44. It tells the tale. Dhoni always has liking towards containing bowlers more than wicket taking bowlers.

This guy, along with Zaheer, is supposed to be our spearhead and most experienced bowler. He has been a big let down. If the opposition teams dont lose wickets, they can pick up their run-rate at any time in the death overs. This has been proved in the last match. the only way to restrict teams is by picking up wickets

He's bowling the wrong line and round the wicket..Negative bowling will occasionally get him wickets..To be honest he's not a strike bowler anymore. He is just staying in the team based on his hype, past records and good connections..
