I thought Kemar Roach is also some1 who bowls really phast... Infact he along with Morkel clock speeds more than what Steyn does on an average. IMO Steyn is generally in the mid-80s and occasionally increases it to 90s.

That's correct...Steyn is quick for sure, but not blisteringly quick (as you say, his team mate from the other end is faster) - what makes him such a menace in Test matches is his control of swing and intelligence in setting up a batsman allied to that decent pace.

++ I think what Holding meant by his statement was more on the lines of having control over line & length (which currently not many bowlers other than Steyn have), rather than having just pace (which most of the fast bowlers nowadays tend to have).

I dont think so. He has mentioned atleast 3-4 times about what he means by a fast bowler i.e some1 who can bowl above 90 mph. And had he talked about control over line and length, then Zak would have been a contender as well. He's as good as Steyn when it comes to control over line and length.

Fact is even steyn does not bowl consistently at 90miles in tests he varies from 125-145km/h Morkel is the only bowler who can bowl quick for long spells.Holding is so busy watching and praising england he does not watch westindies also

Steyn was horribel against pakistan did not even touch 140km/h and was uneffective on flat picthes where as morkel troubled batsman on dead tracks also.

I think Holding means to say a bowler who is capable of bowling 90 mph consistently in a spell with control. Steyn may not bowl at 90 mph in every match simply because its not needed. In flat slower wickets, pace bowlers cut down on the pace and work on their line and length but he is capable of bowling fast when he wants to. Against India in the tests, if I remember correctly he was around 150 most of the time. Other bowlers like Roach and Morkel while good are still not in the league of Steyn and Lee.
