Wow. This is the problem with on field ump having the final say. 3rd ump should overrule based on replays and it should never go back to the guy who made the mistake in the 1st place.

Pathetic decision' date=' and one that cost Ireland a very likely win. As*hole Ashoka. He and Billy Bowden should sit on a merry-go-round together.[/quote'] ALSO ADD HARPER TO THAT LIST

he gave it out after watching the big screen where the hawk eye showed that the ball was just clipping the off stump. then the ireland batsman asked asoka to discuss it with the third umpire, only then he discussed it with the third umpire. meanwhile the vj started playing some song loudly. i dont know if he heard the 3rd umpire correctly . pathetic umpiring by ashoka. i think he is the most annoying umpire i have ever seen.

I think they should change the rule... if it is less than 3.5m and distance between pitch and impact is more than 40 cm and hawk is showing it itting any part of the stump inside, then the decision belongs to 3rd ump. The onfield call makes it so inconsistent that it brings in the human element and their stupidity as well. In this case, it is not that of a Aschoker because bat was behind pad and it looked like in real-time that he was trying to pad.

was a terrible decision Ireland can feel rightly aggrieved at that in the case of an out decision, a green bar should mean instant reversal feel really bad for the Irish

It's a shame that some umpires think they are bigger than the game. The DRS system is flawed and unless somebody fixes the major problem we will see more of the same. As I said in one of the earlier threads regarding Bell's decision, the 3rd umpire has to make the call and not the on-field umpire. The players asked for DRS in the first place coz they were not satisfied with the original decision and if the review will still place the decision in the on-field umpire's hands what's the point? I mean it's akin to someone going to a High Court after not being satisfied with the ruling of the Lower Court and then finding out that the same Lower Court judge who ruled against the person will be the judge in the High Court as well!!! Simple thing is that there will always be umpires whose ego will never allow them to admit their mistakes and they will continue to uphold the wrong decision. Can you imagine umpires like Bucknor, Billy and Darrell saying "looks like I was wrong and I better rectify my mistake and change the decision". Their thought process will be more like "Damn! The referring team made me look like a fool. Just wait and I will show them who's the boss!"
