Switchblade Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 Dhoni used to be a smart captain. But that was a few years ago, ever since the 2009 T20 in England his captaincy has been characterised by stubborness, lack of ideas and being defensive. Dhoni should step down from the captaincy after the WC,it srun its course and gone stale, he has had his stint and its time somebody with fresher ideas was given the chance. U really are the realist enjoy reading ur views btw is that Kevin Nash in ur avtar
King Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 Is this madness or what? Pointing fingers at the captain the minute the result didn't go your way. Sure there were stupid mistakes but don't count out what happened at the start of 3rd powerplay. Two wickets of Gambhir and Tendulkar added to the woes as well. That said India should have recovered to still post over 320 if not 350 but names on the paper do not translate or mean much in the game though. I'm still wondering why did India take power play 3 at the 39th over. Why not any earlier or say from the 46th? To be able to use the powerplay well enough you can't lose two established batsmen, you can afford one but not two. That said fantastic knock by Tendulkar, Sehwag and Gambhir. Despite this hiccup India is looking excellent in the batting department, god help Indian bowling though barring Bhajji/Zaheer. I think Dhoni was silly enough to persist with bowlers that will not consistently play all the way to the finals of the world cup. Today was a good opportunity to bring in an additional spinner but brought in a paceman and in particular against South Africa.
fineleg Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 I'm just feeling speechless after the 9 wickets collapse. Hence, havent even been able to post much in ICF. Great knock by Sach!, and good work by Sehwag and Gauti. Everyone else just played like careless teenagers. Unbelievable the recklessness by rest of the squad. If you see the replay of the last 7 wickets - disbelief for fans. This is not abt MSD, this is abt all the team members who failed (barring a few). PS: Even though ZK is not a 'batsman' - he was expected to give support to MSD. His wicket and the recklessness is a good example of how the other 7 batted too.
just2011 Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 whys is it that, India loses so often when Sachin hits a century?
just2011 Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 @fineleg Forget about having lost the match, losing 9 wickets for just 29 runs was a tragedy in itself & measured 8.9 on the Richter-scale.
vvvslaxman Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 Forget about having lost the match' date=' losing 9 wickets for just 29 runs was a tragedy in itself & measured 8.9 on the Richter-scale.[/quote'] Nope conceding 100 runs in 4.5 overs is a much worse tragedy. On the other SA collapsed like a pack of cards. Pretty much all teams that are playing have collapsed one time or the other.
Sachin=GOD Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 whys is it that' date=' India loses so often when Sachin hits a century?[/quote'] because there are 10 other players in the team who are supposed to perform and if not perform, at least support the one man who is performing.
vvvslaxman Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 whys is it that' date=' India loses so often when Sachin hits a century?[/quote'] That is because opposition scores atleast 1 run more than India.
King Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 That is because opposition scores atleast 1 run more than India. :hysterical: Good one :hysterical:
ganeshran Posted March 12, 2011 Author Posted March 12, 2011 vvvs paaji has declared war on Piyush Chawla :haha::haha:
Anakin Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 Dhoni does not deserve a place in the team as a player alone anymore.
Prakat Posted March 13, 2011 Posted March 13, 2011 Dhoni is fine.. he tried his best .. dont blame him for others throwing away their wickets.. He was standing on the other end while the players facing the bowling were busy throwing their wickets away.
vaibhav_delhi Posted March 13, 2011 Posted March 13, 2011 hey kiddo stop being too smart! I think its fairly clear who's posting like an angry kid here.... Its a massive over-reaction. Some of you guys simply do not deserve a champion captain n player like dhoni, you guys wont even back your team if 1 result doesnt go right...Its all about 1 individual(sachin) for you.
Little_Master Posted March 13, 2011 Posted March 13, 2011 because there are 10 other players in the team who are supposed to perform and if not perform' date=' at least support the one man who is performing.[/quote']
veer Posted March 13, 2011 Posted March 13, 2011 He was standing on the other end while the players facing the bowling were busy throwing their wickets away. so do you expect him to start coaching clinic in the middle of the match?? how to keep wickets and all that.. and give some credit to Styn and company for getting back in the game..
vaibhav_delhi Posted March 13, 2011 Posted March 13, 2011 No its not. get your fact staraight' date=' we have won 71% when Sachin scores a 100. I know you wnat to defend Dhoni(and so do I) but at least get your facts straight[/quote'] I think india wins only 63% of the matches where sachn scores a Ton against top teams It should be arnd 85% for a hundred to be really useful.... Total hundreds against top teams(38): http://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/player/35320.html?class=2;filter=advanced;opposition=1;opposition=2;opposition=3;opposition=4;opposition=5;opposition=7;opposition=8;orderby=start;runsmin1=100;runsval1=runs;template=results;type=batting;view=match Hundreds in a winning cause(24): http://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/player/35320.html?class=2;filter=advanced;opposition=1;opposition=2;opposition=3;opposition=4;opposition=5;opposition=7;opposition=8;orderby=start;result=1;runsmin1=100;runsval1=runs;template=results;type=batting;view=match And this is only ODIs, add to that the hundreds scored in test matches in indian losses... Already mentioned earlier its just an observation, not faulting sachin!! And I was not looking to not 'defend' dhoni through that post.. :/
SriLankanLion Posted March 13, 2011 Posted March 13, 2011 Oooohhhh.... Things have changed since my last visit here.... Now you guys are questioning Dhoni's captaincy in the middle of WC....? I hope at least you won't stone the captain's house....:winky:
jhakati Posted March 13, 2011 Posted March 13, 2011 Take it easy guys' date=' still a long way to go in the tournament.[/quote'] spot on people need to relax still long way to go, good to actually lose now rather than in the knock outs
asterix Posted March 13, 2011 Posted March 13, 2011 spot on people need to relax still long way to go' date=' good to actually lose now rather than in the knock outs[/quote'] 2 more matches and then we all can relax..as much as we can..:giggle:
