CoverDrive Posted April 1, 2011 Posted April 1, 2011 I am not talking about the Media which is going insane but more about the talks among people and in our own minds. the semis and even the quarters were always in everyones mind and there was this dread of what will happen when the match day comes. Reasons could be 1. Another Ind-SL match !!! 2. We have already defeated our big opponents - aus and Pak 3. Reaching the finals and losing wont be as bad as getting knocked out before that 4. Team with its professional approach has calmed everyone - even if they lose they will give their all and SL will have to play really well to beat us.
Sachin=GOD Posted April 1, 2011 Posted April 1, 2011 The build up is as it should be for the Final - its just that we've had an India-Pak semifinal and the build up for that was probably more than any other match in the history of the game, so the build up for the Final pales in comparison.
Karan114 Posted April 1, 2011 Posted April 1, 2011 I think its the Pak game hype more than anything else. But I'm sure under Dhoni and Kirsten the team is very aware that the good work over the last six weeks will mean nothing if we can't pull out our best game tomorrow. And against a strong Lankan side, we will have to be at our best.
vvvslaxman Posted April 1, 2011 Posted April 1, 2011 It is very very good for us. I couldn't bear the sight of Indian batsmen struggling against ordinary bowlers in the semi final because of pressure.
veer Posted April 1, 2011 Posted April 1, 2011 none of these two teams giving anything to media to play on or talk on.. .
saneindian Posted April 1, 2011 Posted April 1, 2011 Maybe because we have had just a 2 day gap between the semis and final is making us feel that the build up is quiet. Before the Pakistan match there was a gap of 5 days after the QF, enough time for the media and fans to create the hype. Here , 2 days, 31st gone in celebrating the SF win and today is really the only day when the fous has been on the final alone!

Remember the T20 warm up game. It was almost like a knockout game for fans in the stadium.
akshayxyz Posted April 1, 2011 Posted April 1, 2011 True it has been uncharacteristically silent. May be because we had two back-to-back tight matches that left us emotionally drained and satisfied to quite some extent. Come on guys stirr-up the forum. like it was on 29th/30th :cheer:

glogirl Posted April 1, 2011 Posted April 1, 2011 its like it was too much of cricket between indi vs pakistan.. tri series, asia cup...OMG.
Tigerbait Posted April 1, 2011 Posted April 1, 2011 As a fan, I am still not over the Pak win. I can only hope the players are.
Rajan Posted April 1, 2011 Posted April 1, 2011 agreed. even in our office , there is not even 30% of the excitement which was there for the semi final. i can understand the special feeling for pakistan, but this is world cup final.but people are really cool.it is almost they are already satisfied. against Australia and pakistan, even women colleagues were discussing strategies-toss/batting first, team selection, among themselves!

It's pretty sad the general public don't care about the final.
Sachin=GOD Posted April 1, 2011 Posted April 1, 2011 I think the lack of build up is also there because certain people feel that it will be an easy match and that since the World Cup is happening in India, we are almost certain to win it :hmmm:
Lord Posted April 1, 2011 Posted April 1, 2011 nothing here too.like people are satisfied in beating Pak n are overconfident that India will win
vvvslaxman Posted April 1, 2011 Posted April 1, 2011 nothing here too.like people are satisfied in beating Pak n are overconfident that India will win India will play more freely in this match. That is a big plus as both high profile matches were out of the way.
