Thanks a lot guys, wonderful to read your experiences. But I had to be in England for India to win in India. :winky:

I'll do a proper write up when I'm back home getting tickets became a huge worry the moment we beat pakistan. Called up so many people for tickets and the cheapest we were being quoted was 70000 a ticket. Then it looked like we weren't going to be at the finals. After having a good think about it whether buying in black would be worth it - sachin last world cup, india could lift the trophy, be part of history, etc. We decided we have to get tickets and went about looking for some at a decent price every penny was worth it - awesome crowd and awesome time just one thing about the seats - worst in india - tickets were in SG pavillon - face value of Rs. 10000 and I swear to you it's like the seats were designed for kids. Don't know how they expect adults to sit in them comfortably, every other match I went to had more comfortable seating

Agree. The one thing that fans who went from overseas to India for the WC had going in their favor was a strong exchange rate. Even than, $2, 000 for a single ticket (assuming these are just normal seats and not corporate boxes or anything) is a little steep. Considering the result, guess it was worth it.

My adventure for the final starts 2 days before the final day My cousin had input all the flight info into his phone, so we never bothered checking our itinerary. We check my cousin's phone and we're flying from Chandigarh to Mumbai on March 31st So on the day, we arrive at the airport with all our luggage, go through baggage screening and then make our way over to check in. BTW the new airport they're building in Chandigarh looks sexy. SO we get to the counter and the lady checks our names and can't find them on the list. We ask her if she could check again, she does and still we're not there. Suddenly we spot the flight is on April 1st  It was an "oh F..." moment. But luckily the flight was not full, so we were able to switch our flights to that day. Which was extremely important, otherwise getting tickets would have been all the more difficult. So we arrive in Mumbai, get food and get home and chill out before sleeping. The next morning (day before the final) we started the morning off calling all known contacts for tickets. All prices quoted were like Rs. 7000, 8000, 1.65 lakhs and 2.25 lakhs  Before we got into Mumbai we agreed not to speed more than £300 (Rs 21000) for tickets, as it nearing the end and expenses were adding up. Hearing these prices we began to think we weren't getting tickets We decided to head outside the ground and see what was happening. Nobody seemed to be selling any tickets at the start, but slowly, slowly they come out and they were all quoting similar prices. Then out of the blue some guy come along, he was selling Rs. 10000 face value tickets for 40k each. It was the best price we'd heard all day, but he had to try and get the price down. We tried offering him 75k for both, but he wasn't coming down on his price. We still switched numbers. He said if he can't sell them he'll give us a call. Then a few mins later I saw him talking to some young guy who offered to buy it and told the guy to meet his dad somewhere, where he would be with the money. We thought there those go. So we carried on looking for tickets and the prices were too steep. As we walked about, the young guy who wanted to buy the tickets was trying to sell tickets to others. He was buying for 40k and selling for 42k :haha: Seeing this I told my cousin to call the man with the tickets and told him about this, it pi$$ed him off (by now we decided we might as well buy them at that price as 1500rs tickets were going for 50k, so this seemed a bargain) and he decided he would sell them to us. He picked us up and took us back to our friends hotel, who was holding some money for me. I was going to pay the guy in rupees and my cousin in pound sterling. The guy seemed a bit confused. We showed him the rate on the phone which was about 71.xx, the guy said bank charges something else and we should trade at 75. In my mind I'm thinking this works out better for me, so I said yeh and done the deal in pounds lol Tickets in hand, time to go party Match day --- We get to the ground early and get in quite. Its a long, unorganised queue, it bends round a DIY made fence with the back open for people to jump the queue. I can't remember how long it took to get in the ground, but it was a long time. Pockets were being emptied, the lip balm I had chucked aside without asking what it is. We get inside and need a drink and make way to our seats unsure whether they'd be allowed in the ground or not, but they were. Our seats were square of the wicket, not the best, but who cares I was at the world cup final. But the thing that annoyed me most was how small the seats were. I know Indian people are small, but this was pushing it, quite uncomfortable especially considering it was a hot day, a really hot day, seriously felt like the hottest day from the time I was in India. So the team was revealed and many distraught people started discussing how could Sreesanth have been included. I myself was just randomly swearing for him playing. The toss caused a lot of confusion, as we had no idea what had happened. We were hoping to bat first, but now it was time to get behind the bowlers. Brilliant start from Zaheer, got the crowd pretty pumped up. Even when Sreesanth started getting tap, even though people were annoyed, still cheered him on. After the SL powerplay heads dropped all around. But as Sachin and Sehwag entered the field, people had suddenly found their voices again. t.b.c.

Great post Sachinism. :two_thumbs_up: Waiting for the remainder. Which stand were you in? In the " WC expenses thread" you mentioned that you were getting tickets for the finals at $ 300-400. What happened to that?

Wow.. Great write up guys.. You are really blessed to witness the greatest moment in Indian Cricket. I want to hear from you guys about the moment when India needed around 25 runs to win and everyone was singing Vande Mataram.. That looked such an inspiring moment on TV, and you were actually living that moment in the Stadium..
