I dont want to hurt your feelings but these so called stars only want to hog the limelight. OK forget the finals, but in general these idiots come during matches to promote their films and enjoy publicity. Quite a few times they have come to promote their films during the break(eg some Love Aaj Kal during India's T20 WC match). I personally find this quite irritating because I would rather hear the xperts analyze. I dont want to know what these actors did in the sets,what the story is,how many hours they sleep etc. If I want to know such things I would rather read some film magazine/watch the movie. Broadcasters should show only the match+analysis+stats because that is what we want to see. I dont want to see these stupid actors once every 5 minutes. Earlier they used to show nice banners but they have stopped that now. :hitler:

People who are watching the game have one intention - watching a game called cricket, so why deprive them of that opportunity? We can see the film stars in the movies and the politicians and business men in the news channels, is'nt that enough?? It is very, very, very, irritating and the worst thing is that you can very clearly see that most of them are simply acting - they would be sitting quietly talking to somebody, least interested in whats happening in the match, and the moment the camera points at these stars they will start waving their flags and shouting Indiaaaaa Indiaaaaaaaa etc.

I don't know all this off side, leg drive etc etc business properly. But does that mean I feel any less proud or my tears are any lesser than someone who knows the game inside out? Absolutely not. I know where you coming from. I agree with you on that.

More 60 % of tickets were reserved for corporates, politicians and Bhands. The media is not reflecting the nation. The media is reflecting a perception of the nation that maybe some share abroad and elites have in India that the country is all about Movies and cricket. For that matter, even our movies are not reflecting India :) But that is a different story. There are celebrities who go to sports matches. Rowan Atkinson might go to an EPL game but there is only so much coverage he will get. At the risk of making of further sweeping generalizations, India is increasingly becoming a land for the elites and the media is only playing a bit part in that. IPL is nothing but a more workmanlike version of horserace where a bunch of nobodies from a cricketing perspective but enough wealth are betting on their players. And we just have to take it.

Where were the winners of the 1983 WC winning team, if not all at least those who were in Mumbai? Ideally Kapil should have handed over the WC trophy to MSD and the team.

And people who inherit wealth shouldn't be highlighted by the media? What are you even getting at? I agree that the post was not exactly related to OP. Just look at the wikipedia profiles of most of the film stars. They had either relatives/parents in influential positions. Just because media highlights them does not take them away from the title "parasite"...

(and it's easy to be one..) i will use all my influence to get tickets to these games.. hell yeah.. why not.. and if i can i will get VIP seats.. that doesnt mean i am goin to stadium to hog the limelight.. I am in fact loved the way Aamir / Preity / Suneil Shetty were waving our flags.. that shows that they are humans too.. its the cricket that unites India.. rich or poor.. there is this huge star Jack Nickalson who goes to every LA Lakers playoff home game.. does that mean he wants limelight?? it shows his love for the sport and his favorite team..

The difference is, he goes to every LAL home game, at least most of them, when he's in the city. He doesn't show up only during the Western Conf. finals or the league finals, which can be equated to these Bolly attention seeking so-n-so making their "presence felt" in the CWC final.

How do u know that certain celebrities were there so they could be seen on tv (doesn't even make sense) Yes they get free passes and the best seats but wouldn't you want if available to you?
