Temujin Khaghan Posted April 7, 2011 Posted April 7, 2011 +1 Indian trundlers have won test matches on bouncy wickets like DURBAN PERTH HEADINGLEY unlike pakistan fast bowlers who take drugs and bowl big no balls. yeah - the same trundler brigade that defeated you in the WC recently and went on to win the WC :hatsoff: the thing about indian seam bowlers is that they click when they have to england tour - check aus tour - check sa tour - ok wi tour - check world cup - check check check pakistan bowlers are one of the finest... but they are well... you know what but even if indian seam bowlers are performing well, you cant exaclty call them a fast bowling brigade. fast bowling is a max capacity of 150+ and atleast 145+ on a regular basis. indian bowlers are not doing that.
rkt.india Posted April 7, 2011 Posted April 7, 2011 i must also add that i feel that the speedos used in this world cup were probably 5/6 kmph slower than the speedos used by the likes of channel 9 and neo skysports etc i feel aaron/yadav would have registered lower speeds if they had played in this world cup than what they registered on neo . No that is a wrong argument..by this logic, Gul bowled 153,, so he would be clocked 159 on channel 9 speed guns and Sreeshanth would be cloked 151 who bowled 145 in final. That is not the case. Every bowler bowled at his usual pace in the WC. According to you Munna would have clocked 146 who even struggled to touch 140 on the last Oz tour on channel 9 speed guns. Yadav and Aaron might have clocked faster, but certainly not slower
King Tendulkar Posted April 7, 2011 Posted April 7, 2011 Everyone getting confused between pacey bowlers and good pacey bowler(i.e those with accuracy/movement etc). Just cos wayward pacers getting smashed does not make pace unimportant. By the way Steyn says hello!

Ok, call them whatever you like - trundlers, medium pacers, spinners etc - bottom line is, as you say, they click when it matters the most. Period.
akshayxyz Posted April 7, 2011 Posted April 7, 2011 I would rather produce several more Zaheer Khans than obsess with phaasht boilers who would not want - Zaheer + Steyn + Marshal?

Yes i agree Pakistan has best bowlers i mean which team can give away 93 runs from 24 balls .

Period.[/quote'] exactly thanks for understanding none of our pace bowlers will be in the fast bowling hall of fame. mmmm probably zaheer if he continues like this for another 3 years in test cricket. pakistan's bowlers have a better chance there. but if you ask which team will see more glory, because their "above average" bowlers rose up to the occasion to complement the batsmen sent to continue GOD's legacy? one word - India.
Temujin Khaghan Posted April 7, 2011 Posted April 7, 2011 Yes i agree Pakistan has best bowlers i mean which team can give away 93 runs from 24 balls . cmon man they had a bad day... they have talent, but they choke when it matters but still gul, riaz, junaid, amir (after his cheating term completes in advance... as usual) -> they are quality.
vvvslaxman Posted April 7, 2011 Posted April 7, 2011 Steyn bowled mostly at 135k in SA. ONly in the second or third spell he cranked up the speed to create some panic in the middle order. That was not just quick. It had lot of variations. There are two types of pace bowlers. One who can do whatever he wants at extreme pace. The second one who hurls the ball as fast as possible like Shaun Tait. Sure he can click one or two matches. But in lot of the matches you would see him bowl pile of sh**. Would you carry such an erratic bowler with you just because he can bowl fast? 1st type of bowler...i will believe it when i see it. We are chasing something that is not there.
vvvslaxman Posted April 7, 2011 Posted April 7, 2011 you dont rate pace very highly ,according to you since hiral patel can smash a quick fifty against lee, tait and mitch so pace is not very important, accuracy is.going by that logic when accurate bowler aka praveen kumar get smashed we say that guy doesn't have pace so he got smashed .what ever is your weakness will get highlighted.so one needs to cover as many areas as possible.it is not possible to have everything but one should not have any really weak area or else pay the price for it . NO you have to strike a balance. But when we Indians discuss about "genuine quick" bowlers we are becoming like padosis. All we do is just look at "km/hour" . Nothing else. We don't see whether he actually got any wickets with such pace or whether he ran through a side or whether he could bowl magic deliveries. My point is Varun Aaaron or Umesh Yadav should be in the side becuase he did take wickets in domestic cricket no because he could bowl at 145k.
vvvslaxman Posted April 7, 2011 Posted April 7, 2011 I agree but also I hate it when people(specially pakis) say indians cant bowl quicky because we are weak that is why i guess I want some one to bowl fast and shut those damn pakis up Padosis are used to that culture. THey like bowlers bowling fast even if they bowl pile of dross. Where else guy like Mohammad Sami would have played this many matches. He is averaging 50 in Tests with ball. He could clock 150k plus easily. Same way any time a batsman slogs around and gets a 50.. then they convince themselves they have found a talent. Over here we find mostly matured posters. But in padosi's den you will see lot of 15 year old kids who don't know what the eff he is writing. We have already produced bowlers who can clock 145k. Yet they continue taking a dig at us. So we shouldn't really bother about it as it doesn't matter at the end of the day so long as we keep winning.

We are chasing something that is not there. Sir ji look at Shaun Tait's record in ODI cricket. He has an average of 23. Whatever he has played you will get you answer...Pace is always handy whether he is wayward or what. He rattled the likes of Strauss with his pace in ODI series in England after Ashes. You are talking about Varun Aaron. He has taken 22 wickets in Domestic one day games in 11 matches at an average of 17 and a strike rate of 23...what do you want more form him? Its not just Padosis...every cricket selects a pace bowler because of pace. Jerome Taylor and Fidel Edwards were picked when they had entered in FC just because of their pace and they have done pretty well...especially Jerome Taylor. Steyn was bowling 135 because he was trying to swing the ball which is his main weapon and he is accurate with that. Whenever ball stops swinging he starts bowling upwards of 145 and takes wickets with that too.
rkt.india Posted April 7, 2011 Posted April 7, 2011 realistically you will never get Zaheer + Steyn + Marshal if you get bowlers like that in 1 team that is like once in a century like wi pace quartet of 70s most often ind had 1 good pacer kapil paa ji in 80s sri in 90s zak now' date=' the rest depends on the other average bowlers .[/quote'] AUstralia in 200s with Mcgrath, Brett Lee, and GIllespie
zen Posted April 7, 2011 Author Posted April 7, 2011 I skimmed through this thread so may have missed something but don't know why this thread turned into a pace vs skills debate! This is not abt picking bowlers on pace alone, but picking bowlers who have pace, assuming that the overall skill levels of most of the other bowlers is more or less the same. Bhailog, the problem with Ind has been that it has bowlers who don't bowl well (compared to top guys like Styen, Malinga and co. Not the Samis of the world :P ) and on top of that can't even compete with pace. So the choice automatically (the assumption) becomes b/w those who bowl quick and those who bowl not that quick. There may be a few exceptions like Zak but that's abt it :winky: PS many of those who use phrases like "I would rather play someone with skills than pace alone" are probably amongst those who pray for absolute turners :giggle:
vvvslaxman Posted April 7, 2011 Posted April 7, 2011 [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qah1cmxVDB8]YouTube - Malcolm Marshall tribute video - GREATEST FAST BOWLER[/ame] WHen you get a chance watch this video. Good explanation of Marshall's strengths. Watch exactly at 4:10 and surprise yourself...
maaki Posted April 8, 2011 Posted April 8, 2011 Thats canadian power for u.. Watch out for us canucks we will be a cricketing power soon.. 135 k might have been great pace in the 80s.. pitches have become much flatter. Hiral patel beat the crap out of 150 k deliveries from Aussie bowlers. How would you explain that.
Midfielder Posted April 8, 2011 Posted April 8, 2011 in the matches i saw he was between 120kph to 132 kph ' date='but so was ishant when he played his ist domestic season and then he bowled at 150 in aus[/quote'] Thanks!
maniac Posted April 8, 2011 Posted April 8, 2011 Thats canadian power for u.. Watch out for us canucks we will be a cricketing power soon.. In 8 years hopefully Hiral Patel doesn't turn into Balaj Rao
