WC2011INDIA Posted April 27, 2011 Posted April 27, 2011 I would rather see ftb Vijay in odis than rayadu or valthaty' date='if srikant picks these guys based on ipl performances then he needs to fired immediately.[/quote'] Yesterday, Srikant said that he and his team of selectors look at IPL performances too when picking guys for national team.
vvvslaxman Posted April 27, 2011 Posted April 27, 2011 Yesterday' date=' Srikant said that he and his team of selectors look at IPL performances too when picking guys for national team.[/quote'] One of the reason why Anirudda keeps getting chances. :hysterical:
cowboysfan Posted April 27, 2011 Posted April 27, 2011 Yesterday' date=' Srikant said that he and his team of selectors look at IPL performances too when picking guys for national team.[/quote'] i hope he means international t20s because ODIs have nothing to do with t20 cricket.
hari504504 Posted April 27, 2011 Posted April 27, 2011 Moving on from his first innings and evaluating all of em - I feel Valthaty isn't all that convincing as a batsman..anda rubbish bowler, surely better players out there who deserve the cap more than him. He can earn his livelihood in IPL though - will be a massive battle for him in the next auctions. Rayudu looks great though- hope he gets a look-in
Silva Posted April 27, 2011 Posted April 27, 2011 Test, ODIs and T20 are 3 very different formats. The selectors are stupid for confusing the 3. Yuvi and raina needs at least a couple of good ranji trophy seasons to make a case for getting back into the test squad considering other great players haven't got a chance to make the squad and Yuvi and Raina blew the many opportunities they got. Imagine what Badrinath mush be thinking.

WC2011INDIA Posted April 27, 2011 Posted April 27, 2011 i hope he means international t20s because ODIs have nothing to do with t20 cricket. Pretty sure he meant for all forms of cricket.
fineleg Posted April 27, 2011 Posted April 27, 2011 :hysterical: What a colossal amount of money they are paying to that slogger Like Saurabh Tiwary, if Valthaty gets to play just one or two T20 for India - then the bidding price will shoot up in auctions :cantstop:
WC2011INDIA Posted April 27, 2011 Posted April 27, 2011 One of the reason why Anirudda keeps getting chances. :hysterical: pretty much. Won't be surprised if he somehow makes it into T20 or ODI. No chances for test cricket.
VRV Singh Posted April 27, 2011 Posted April 27, 2011 At least it's (apparently) only the one off T20 for Valthaty and this joker won't be seen again..
NareshK Posted April 27, 2011 Posted April 27, 2011 Rayudu yes. He has lots of potential and did well in quite a few domestic games. Missed out due to politics and lack of proper guidance. Valthaty no. Simply because he has not done enough. This is only his first IPL. Maybe he can play domestic cricket for a couple of seasons and prove his worth there first.
saneindian Posted April 27, 2011 Posted April 27, 2011 What more does Badri need to do to get picked again? If he doesn't get picked, wonder what message gets sent to the likes of Rahane who aren't yet suited for the t20 format?
NareshK Posted April 27, 2011 Posted April 27, 2011 I never understood why Badrinath got picked for the test team, played one game and then immediately got dropped from the squad for the next series. I mean what were the selectors thinking ? How can you judge a player's ability who has scored piles of runs in domestic cricket in one match and then sideline him forever ? There must be some explanation. Really pathetic treatment to Badri. I hope he gets back in the team but seems as though they have dumped him for good for some reason.
Sooda Posted April 27, 2011 Posted April 27, 2011 So Rayudu will open? He is not really an opener is he. Mukund and/or Rahane surely...
saneindian Posted April 27, 2011 Posted April 27, 2011 On Rayudu and Valthaty, let them be picked for India A first before coming to the national side. We still have so many youngsters waiting for a chance ahead of these two. Picking them directly for the national side will be like doling out national caps. A bowler doing well in IPL and getting picked for the national team can at times still be justified as we do have a shortage of world class back up bowlers . In batting though, the competition is tougher and the domestic performance should count too. The likes of Dhawan, Saurabh Tiwary, Badri, Manoj Tiwary and Uthappa all should be ahead of these 2 in the pecking order. Assuming Sachin, Sehwag, Gambhir, and MSD indeed take a break from the WI tour, the ODI batting line up should be Uthappa, Parthiv, Kohli, Rohit, Yuvraj, Raina, Yusuf with Dhawan and Saurabh Tiwary as backup batsmen. Tiwary has been on tour so many times without getting too many games. It will be criminal to discard him on the basis of a poor IPL.
Malcolm Merlyn Posted April 27, 2011 Posted April 27, 2011 Valthaty should get a chance in the T20. Rayudu deserves a Indian team spot. Also selectors need to pick Ishant and give chances to Yadav and Aaron
jonas10 Posted April 27, 2011 Posted April 27, 2011 Why the hell are IPL performances being taken seriously for tests? Paul Valthty?...no way is this guy test material Did you even read the initial post? They said Valthaty would play the 1 off T20 match. Nothing was mentioned about tests
ViruRulez Posted April 27, 2011 Posted April 27, 2011 Rayudu fine. Valthaty only for T20 matches if played. UV is a big no in tests and Pujara and Badrinath fits into the test mould a lot better than UV. Hope that we do not send too weak a team to WI. Pakis seem to be thrashing WI and I would not like a situation where WI thrashes our team whatever the composition and give Pakis something to cheer. It should be a balanced side. Testing out in T20 is fine but surely not in tests and ODIs. Valthaty, Rayudu is fine for T20. I might even give Rayudu a chance in ODIs alongwith Badri and Rohit Sharma but would not include Vijay in ODIs. Hope we send a balanced team and not a completely third grade team and repeat the mistake we did against Zimboks.

I would rather prevent a burn out of Dhoni, Tendu, Shewag, Zak and Gauti. We need them against England and Aus. Who gives a heck if Paks jeer us. In test matches, we'll still have Dravid and VVS. It'll be a good opportunity to try out some of our hopefuls for future replacement of our retiring stars.
Cricket Tragic Posted April 27, 2011 Posted April 27, 2011 No experiments in tests. Full strength team must play. Sehwag might be out but that's about it. If they skip the ODIs, they'll have about 3 weeks off. That should be enough.
