Asim Posted August 7, 2012 Posted August 7, 2012 The one thing I do remember about those "classy: batsmen was the way they used to go back to the dressing room after pottering around doing nothing in the middle against better teams like Aus & SA. Amazing that Inzi is renown as "the best batsman of fast bowlin", Anwar as "best left hander" and Yusuf as the savior of Paki cricket when all 3 of them put toether couldn't do anything against Aus & SA :hysterical: Test Matches in AUS+SA Sehwag avg: 38.18 Saeed Anwar avg: 40.07 :hysterical:
Asim Posted August 7, 2012 Posted August 7, 2012 Even if you include England I doubt Anwar and Inzi did anything outstanding "haha: The best part was Pakis going on about Inzamam as the best batsman against pace bowling and against the best pacement, which were Aussies & Saffers, the guy was a walking wkt :giggle: Same with Yusuf. As for Anwar the guy was no more than an average opener with a batting average of 45. That's pretty ordinary to be honest :giggle: If you comparing it to Sehwag, I have to say this again your analysis purely based on assumptions :giggle: proving heavily wrong 3rd time in this forum alone. Now check this: in AUS+SA+ENG obviously vs AUS+SA+ENG Test Matches: even Azhar Mahmood avg is ahead of Sehwag :cantstop: (ok fair enough he had fewer matches only) but how about this: Younis Khan (43.08), Saeed Anwar (41.04), Yousuf (38.37), Inzi (37.25) are all ahead of Sehwag (35.73)
panther Posted August 7, 2012 Posted August 7, 2012 anwar his 7 away tons and the bowling attacks he did it against: 169 v mcgrath, warne and fleming. 176 v average English bowlers cork, croft, mullally and lewis. 188* v india against kumble, srinath, bhajji and prasad 169 v a crap nz atatck 118 v sa against donald, pollock, de villers and kallis 136 v sl a poor attack but it did include murli 123 v sl against vass, murli and herath. sehwag: His 10 away tons 195 v lee, braken and macgil average attack at best 151 v lee, mitchell johnson and stuart clarke 106 v hoggard, cork, flintoof and harmison 309 v akhtar, saqlain, sami and shabiir ahmed 254 v akhtar, afridi, rana, sami and kaneria 105 v pollock, ntini and kallis 201 v vass and murli 109 v rubbish sl bowling attack 180 v west indes against a crap attack 109 v hearth, murli and malinga The ones in bowled I would say are good bowling attacks although the 309 is debatable. From this list I don't see any knock by sehwag against a great bowling attack but anwar has 2 the tons against sa and aus.

Old guy Posted August 7, 2012 Posted August 7, 2012 I think to any neutral cricket fan' date=' Sehwag might not be considered as a CLASS player which Saeed Anwar definitely was :) Now I am not saying playing elegantly or being classical is more effective for the team bcz Sehwag using his own techniques is way more destructive than Saeed.[/quote'] did not watch anwar bat in test so u know better and i will take ur word but i dont get why any one would call him ftb before his downfall he was good in australia, england too and is still pretty good in subcontinent no matter how much they spin but after world cup i dont think he is same player.. i think u guys have seen him bat enough :winky: he is pretty damn valuable in tests .. i dont really care abt this comparison but i hate thi attitude to just disregard all achievement of batsman by saying he is ftb itsn ot that easy specially not at strike rate at which he scores runs ..also home tracks does not equal to flat tracks panther needs to understand this actually subcontinent in general but i guess when his only motive is to waste time by trolling it probably does not matter :giggle:

Old guy Posted August 7, 2012 Posted August 7, 2012 When did you start watching cricket? Anwar played till 2001. test cricket near 2003 :P odis near 2001 im 19 now.. not every one stats watching cricket at age of 4 :--D actually i might have seen him play but dont really remember players i seriously watched test only near 2003 edit... pretty sure ur gonna ask abt my age im 19 :wall:

Sehwag : 35.97 in 25 matches with 4 centuries. Didn't think that these numbers would be so close to best Pakistani batsmen ever.
saurabhg Posted August 7, 2012 Posted August 7, 2012 sorry I don't see your point? Nothing unexpected in that :hysterical::hysterical:
saurabhg Posted August 7, 2012 Posted August 7, 2012 lol statistically anwar trumps sehwag even by just watching the 2 play you can tell who is the superior player 1 has his feet stuck in cement the other is the most graceful left handed batsman ever if not 2nd after lara. even with his feet stuck in cement, he makes ur bowlers crap their pants... :haha::haha:

Trichromatic Posted August 7, 2012 Posted August 7, 2012 @sabby : Would you include a player in your team who did way better than Azhar Mahmood and Anwar at one stage, was close to Younis Khan, MoYo and Inzi as the number of matches increased? :winky: (Didn't mention that he did all this while destroying attacks with SR of 75.72, which is better than Inzi, YK, MoYo's batting SR in ODIs :giggle:).

vayuu1 Posted August 7, 2012 Posted August 7, 2012 Yup they were kings of 90s when they lost to Zimboks and Loins at home :giggle: They also were supposedly the best side in the world in 80s when they have yet to beat WI in WI :hysterical: Other great insights from Paki fans... - Inzi is greater than Tendulkar - Akmal is greater than Kohli and is a crossbetween Miandad and Tendulkar - Yusuf, Inzi & Anwar were ATGs but Sehwag is a FTB (cue: check all these players' stats in SA & Aus) - Inzi was the greatest player of fast bowling U mean he is a hybrid right or a mutant I can go on on but I'm sure you get the point :giggle:
Debutant Posted August 7, 2012 Posted August 7, 2012 So according to lahori logic the test match between England and South Africa concluded yesterday which resulted in a draw in Headingley was played in a patta and the century scored by Peterson should be excluded from his stats. :two_thumbs_up: Lahoris
Crookbond Posted August 7, 2012 Posted August 7, 2012 ^ +1 Already made that point earlier. Flat tracks imply draws but draws don't imply flat tracks - A simple lesson in First Order Logic.

I guess you can do anything like saying Srinath was a better bowler than Wasim kinds of things :giggle:,... So many flaws there...
deathmonger Posted August 7, 2012 Posted August 7, 2012 Damn What a :fail: u came up with Here your "logic" actually goes against you... I wish u cudv start watching cricket since 90s at least :--D Aren't Srinath, Sir Agarkar, Kumble & Parsad etc ur all time ODI greats? On the other hand how many times Sehwag faced Wasim+Waqar attack? Both played together only once, so Sehwag started vs Pak right since Anwar left vs Ind, and that match was exactly the one when Wasim & Waqar bowled last time in their career, though Pakistan lost it but interestingly it was the ONLY time when: Anwar faced Zaheer attack: Scored 100 & Sehwag faced Wasim+Waqar attack: Could score 20 something The fact is Anwar played in times u had best of ur bowling attack and Sehwag is playing right since downfall started in our bowling attack... crap analysis. that's due to the difference between the all time odi bowling attacks. similar thing would have happened if you consider all time odi batting lineups: bowling avgs of indians against pakistan best batting lineup (inzy yousuf younis): irfan pathan: 29.74 ashish nehra: 31.90 rp singh: 25.50 ajit agarkar: 30.21 nothing great but decent. now check out pakistani bowler's records against india's best lineup. bowling avg of pakis against india best batting line up (the current one): gul: 45.56 afridi: 58.21 amir: 51 asif: 44.83 hafeez: 47.50 :hysterical::hysterical::hysterical::hysterical: since asim is talking of two w's going out etc. check out the great shoaib chucktar's stats after our team became decent and had sehwag, dhoni, raina, yuvi etc. bowling avg: 32.26 (worse than the four indian avgs i have given against best pakistani lineup) he's even sucked in tests: bowling avg: 42.40 chucktar's entire stats against india has been created by bashing weak india teams of 90s in numerous sharjah cups. the moment we had half decent batsmen his stats start resembling his current day compatriots who have inherited his habit of getting slaughtered by indians. and why shouldn't the avgs be so high. so many memorable phaintys given to him. sachin 2003 wc dhoni faisalabad test heck even bhajji asia cup 2010 :hysterical:
