CoverDrive Posted May 11, 2011 Posted May 11, 2011 I have heard this rumor for some time now and even Peter Roebuck mentions this in his latest column - http://www.espncricinfo.com/magazine/content/story/514494.html This would be ultimate insult to the Aussies though i feel Venky his probably a good coach
Temujin Khaghan Posted May 11, 2011 Posted May 11, 2011 already he is killing people with his american accent... now add aussie to his vocal skills.
vvvslaxman Posted May 11, 2011 Posted May 11, 2011 Lot of Aus fans would like this to stay as a rumour
The Realist Posted May 11, 2011 Posted May 11, 2011 Frankly why not? If you see the long list of non-entities from Australia who are in some “coaching” capacity with IPL teams and the even longer list of obscure “players” they have brought with them, then it’s about time India got it’s own back with Prasad advising the Aussie speedsters to change their role models from Bret Lee to Munaf Patel.
WC2011INDIA Posted May 11, 2011 Posted May 11, 2011 lol an Indian coaching Aussie bowlers. :hysterical: Will be utterly embarassing for Aussie cricket fans and players. However, if they really improve technique wise under Venkat's coaching then BCCI guys should be smacked left, right and center.
CoverDrive Posted May 11, 2011 Author Posted May 11, 2011 Agree i don't see why we cannot have Indian coaches in IPL atleast - people just want to be seen as spending a lot of good money and foreigners with laptops seems to satisfy everyone that high level coaching is happening.
Bublu Bhuyan Posted May 11, 2011 Posted May 11, 2011 No Indian bowler has frustrated me in his playing days as much as Venkatesh Prasad.
Cricket Tragic Posted May 11, 2011 Posted May 11, 2011 Yeah, we've heard this before. I don't think that it will happen.
jusarrived Posted May 11, 2011 Posted May 11, 2011 Good players dont necessarily make a good coach . our best period as a bowling unit was when Venky was our coach , a lot of Indian fans tend to forget that & never got the credit he deserved .

This. We've seen how foreign coaches are messing up the teams in IPL, yet we'd rather have white coaches than our own.
Ultimate_Game Posted May 11, 2011 Posted May 11, 2011 Good players dont necessarily make a good coach . our best period as a bowling unit was when Venky was our coach ' date=' a lot of Indian fans tend to forget that & never got the credit he deserved .[/quote'] He and Robin Singh were both good coaches and were hard done by the BCCI.
The Realist Posted May 11, 2011 Posted May 11, 2011 Exactly. I don't understand the obsession with Aussie coaches especially in IPL. They bring nothing to the table and are simply there to collect easy money. Heck Aus have not even won a world T20, if want foreign coaches then why not go for English coaches as they are current T20 world champs? I really really do not get the blind worship of all things Australian.
Sachin=GOD Posted May 11, 2011 Posted May 11, 2011 He and Robin Singh were both good coaches and were hard done by the BCCI. also Lalchand Rajput. The three of them did a very good job.
WC2011INDIA Posted May 11, 2011 Posted May 11, 2011 also Lachand Rajput. The three of them did a very good job. Lalchand you mean?
DomainK Posted May 12, 2011 Posted May 12, 2011 McDermott gets the job' date=' Venky loses out :(([/quote'] May be Venky declined the job considering the recent dearth of talent in Australia. He didn't want to be caught in the trap.
