"If there is an attack tomorrow, the police will be the first to run" Ravishingravi to me, Gateway of India, Mumbai, August 2011. Perfect summary of the incompetence of the police from a guy that knows India like the back of his hand.

I saw the news about the monetory compensations from the PM fund and Delhi Govt. It's an insult to give Rs 2 Lacs to the deseased.. Just read the news that they've announced Rs 5 Lacs for info on Delhi blast.. It looks like very CHEAP RATE.. I thought Inflation is high in India..

I read in the papers today that apparently the exact same gate of the Delhi HC was targeted some months ago. And yet there was no visible increase in security or surveillance. Exactly like the Zaveri Bazar blast, where the traders had approached the cops for increased surveillance and enforcement of a no parking zone. The security apparatus must be held accountable here. This is negligence of duty and is no different than a doctor, who say, leaves behind a scissor in the stomach of a patient he's just operated, resulting in a fatality. The Police/ and others must not only be suspended, but also tried for sheer negligence. Indian Intelligence ( an oxymoron, if I ever saw one) and investigative agencies think it to be some kind of a major victory if they can identify the # of blasts and the kind of explosives used. In each press conference all we hear from the investigative agencies is details about the chemicals used. One thing I've observed is that there is a pattern after such blasts, after a few arrests over the next couple of days, nothing will be heard about this blast again. These cases will never be solved. The next time we'll hear of this is next September when the news crews will rush to the victim's families to 'cover' their reactions on the anniversary of the blasts. I hope I'm wrong. RTI covers ongoing police investigations as long as the information divulged doesn't hamper the case. The police always use that as a pretext of not releasing information about terror related cases, lest they be shown as incompetent because they could make any headways. Let along justice, the victims of those who perished would not have even information on the status of the investigations. Our security agencies should be accountable. In most fields such negligence/mistakes would result in immediate termination. And most of us do not work in fields where lives are at stake.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Thursday claimed to have solved the September 7 Delhi High Court blast. Sources say that the investigators have found that the blast was carried out by Harkat-ul-Jihad-al-Islami (HuJI) and the conspiracy to target the Delhi High Court was hatched in Jammu and Kashmir.

Not sure if this has been posted here or not. The area where the blast happened is considered to be outside the HC. There was reception and few counters for some work related to HC. But still police didn't consider it as part of the HC. That's why there was lesser security in that part. Easy target for those who planned the blast. Reminds me of a story which I read in school. A person met an accident. Ambulance arrived, but they refused to do anything because other side of road was in some other area. Road was probably boundary of some district or thana. Same thing happened in this case.
