Gunner_Mania Posted May 27, 2011 Posted May 27, 2011 http://www.espncricinfo.com/west-indies-v-india-2011/content/current/story/516872.html India's depleted squad for the tour of West Indies has suffered another blow with Yuvraj Singh, the Player of the Tournament in the 2011 World Cup, missing the entire tour because of a lung infection. Gautam Gambhir, who was supposed to captain India in the ODIs, has also been ruled out because of a shoulder injury he sustained in the World Cup final and aggravated during the IPL. Sachin Tendulkar has requested that he be rested from the entire tour as well. Suresh Raina has been appointed captain for the one-dayers and the Twenty20 international. Shikhar Dhawan and Manoj Tiwary have replace Yuvraj and Gambhir in the limited-overs squad. India are already missing Tendulkar, MS Dhoni, Zaheer Khan, Virender Sehwag and Ashish Nehra, who are either injured or resting after the IPL and ahead of the Test series. More to follow ...
vvvslaxman Posted May 27, 2011 Posted May 27, 2011  Tendulkar not in tests? Why? Injury or rest?
vvvslaxman Posted May 27, 2011 Posted May 27, 2011 I suggest BCCI scrap the tour. It is painful to watch "B" teams clash. I would rather watch INdia 'A' matches.
Cricket Tragic Posted May 27, 2011 Author Posted May 27, 2011 :WTF: Dhoni, Laxman, Vijay, Mukund, Kohli, Dravid, Badri, Bhajji, Ishant, Sree, Mishra, Ojha, Zak, Munaf, Raina and Parthiv
Gunner_Mania Posted May 27, 2011 Posted May 27, 2011 Wonder what Indian media would have to say about Tendulkar wanting to rest from an International tour while playing the IPL? I think the midget is selfish. He is not showing his commitment to the country and putting franchise over country. How much more money does he need by playing IPL??
yoda Posted May 27, 2011 Posted May 27, 2011 Good news. It is better to have all important players rested for the England series. These guys have been playing non-stop cricket for sometime now. Also, gives us a chance to look at more players in action as we look for replacements in the near future.
jaggadaku Posted May 27, 2011 Posted May 27, 2011 Why the hell Dropthiv in the squad, I guess he'll be our regular opener
Sooda Posted May 27, 2011 Posted May 27, 2011 Well, I guess given the absentees it is a good squad. At least there arent random selections like Yadav touring SA. There is logic behind the picks. And hopefully it means SRT will pwn in England.
The Dark Horse Posted May 27, 2011 Posted May 27, 2011 :WTF: Sachin.. On the flip side, some fringe players are getting their chances. Good to see Kohli picked :two_thumbs_up:

It looks worse as this news comes out on the same day as IPL chief stating no players are forced to play :nervous:
rkt.india Posted May 27, 2011 Posted May 27, 2011 I suggest BCCI scrap the tour. It is painful to watch "B" teams clash. I would rather watch INdia 'A' matches. Ya...I am exciting to see Munna bowling in test matches again.:--D
Laaloo Posted May 27, 2011 Posted May 27, 2011 Sachin should have made himself available for maybe the last test in the Windies just to get in rhythm for the England series. Anyways not many issues I have with the squad given that most of the big names players are either rested/injured.
urbestfriend Posted May 27, 2011 Posted May 27, 2011 VIjay, Mukund Dravid Kohli Laxman Badri Dhoni Harby Zak Ishant Munaf/Mishy Not a bad squad and good opportunity for youngsters to grab a permanent place in test squad But don't know what Rahane needs to do to secure a call. Rahane should've been there instead of Mukund.
Gunner_Mania Posted May 27, 2011 Posted May 27, 2011 5 CSK Players 1 Ex CSK player I think this is all Kris Srikkanth and Dhoni favouring players from their franchise. I wonder why L Balaji was not picked up
