rkt.india Posted June 18, 2011 Posted June 18, 2011 He is worse than against short pitch while raina tries to play shots...he does not what to do...
Karan114 Posted June 18, 2011 Posted June 18, 2011 of what i have seen' date=' i didn't liked him that much. [b']He is terrible with short deliveries, which is not uncommon for Indian batsman. But very gritty player. Good luck for him and hopefully we will have a good opener in making. He is worse than against short pitch while raina tries to play shots...he does not what to do... :((:((:nervous:
Chandan Posted June 18, 2011 Posted June 18, 2011 Hope he is not dropped after one series with everyone going for NOHIT SHARMA.... If you are so sure that he is a good player, why are you worried that he might fail? And if he does fail, obviously he will be dropped. Why should he be retained if he struggled to cope with short deliveries, bounce and swing? And he, as opener, has no competition with Rohit Sharma who is a middle order batsman, unless Rohit throws his hat in the ring like Sehwag had done nine years back.
Karan114 Posted June 18, 2011 Posted June 18, 2011 agree with above posts ' date=' very poor against short balls ,[b']but at least in test they can be left alone unlike odi/t201, too many ind batters concentrate only on drives and flicks not enough on cut and pulls , Same thing was said about Raina after he was bullied by short pitched bowling in the 2009 World Twenty20, and look at how that turned out. Apart from Sharma and Kohli, none of the young Indian batsmen can handle short pitched bowling (or even the not so young in case of Badrinath). Pujara is also reasonable against it though need to see more of him.
Cricket Tragic Posted June 18, 2011 Posted June 18, 2011 You don't have 3 slips, a gully, short leg and leg gully very often in ODIs. Talk that he is very poor against the short ball is worrying.
say2chander Posted June 18, 2011 Posted June 18, 2011 he seems promising though i would have rahane a chance over mukund.
The Outsider Posted June 18, 2011 Posted June 18, 2011 ganguly was not a good player of short balls but he managed a decent test record ,steve waugh too didnt play many pulls but left the short balls alone or if needed took them on his body same with mohinder amarnath who was a very ugly but courageous player of short bowling Did you ever watch Amarnath bat?
vishalvirsingh Posted June 18, 2011 Posted June 18, 2011 I feel this guy Mukund has loads of temperament... Technique to play good bouncers- I suppose no young indian batsmen has apart from VIrat. Sachin Dravid and VVS are the other batsmen who can play good bouncers, sachin is not playing and I have BIG hopes from VVS ( not myself Vishal Vir sing ) and Virat, though Dravid may also score painfull fifty"s. All others will Struggle- I mean the CSK opener(Vijay) , he only knows to DUCK not play bouncers,Badri if he plays will struggle BIG. As he had no clue against medium pacers...fidel edwards KEmar and Ravi are genuinely fast and they may play together... Mukund, Raina and dhoni may also STRUGGLE but dhoni will score a couple of fifty"s . Raina will not be selected in the next test match itself itself leave aside for england... He will score less than 10 in both innings. Even mukund and Vijay will score less than 20 runs in both the innings. Scorers will be vvs , virat and Dhoni and dravid will score at an average of 25 to 30. I feel Dravid "s eye reflexes have got Bad now and after this series he will REALISE to RETIRE. Since I have told about Batsmen..I shud speak about bowlers too.. Ishant will take a fifer in this test and will get at least 8 Wickets in this test and prove that He is a better bowler than Munaf. Mishra will also get a fifer in this test ..I expect ishant and mishra to get fifer in first and second inings in this test and India winning.
desi pride 1234 Posted June 19, 2011 Posted June 19, 2011 i dont want a player who cannot hook or pull. dravid, laxman, sachin, dhoni, gambhir are pretty good against short pitch deliveries. it will be a fun to watch vijay and mukund against roach, rampaul and fidel edwards. indian openers are gonna struggle for sure.
The Outsider Posted June 19, 2011 Posted June 19, 2011 ever heard of video footage And after watching the video footage you gathered that Amarnath was an ugly player of short pitch bowling?
saneindian Posted June 19, 2011 Posted June 19, 2011 Is likely to make his debut in the 1st test. He isn't as bad against the short balls as is being made out. Yes, he had a few issues on the 1st morning of the Duleep Trophy semi finals against RP and Pankaj, but fought through that spell and once settled tonked Umesh Yadav everywhere. And then in the 2nd innings he simply thrashed all other bowlers. Did the same to Ishant Sharma in the finals a few days later. On the basis of that brief spell against RP and Pankaj, to dub him a "horrible player" against the short ball will be wrong IMO.
King Tendulkar Posted June 20, 2011 Posted June 20, 2011 I know its very early days but am very unimpressed by Mukund. Just hope its nerves. Bats like a robot
King Tendulkar Posted June 20, 2011 Posted June 20, 2011 No real impressive shots yet of back or front foot.
King Tendulkar Posted June 20, 2011 Posted June 20, 2011 And he goes, played on. Pretty ugly knock with zero signs of class. No drives or back foot shots. UGLY
sarcastic Posted June 20, 2011 Posted June 20, 2011 And he goes, played on. Pretty ugly knock with zero signs of class. No drives or back foot shots. UGLY Don't jump on the bandwagon already.>> See how it goes in the next few innings he is gonna play in this tour :--D:
Jersey #10 Posted June 20, 2011 Posted June 20, 2011 Has impressive stats in domestic but failed to impress today
cowboysfan Posted June 20, 2011 Posted June 20, 2011 was he that bad? looks like bad luck to be dismissed of an inside edge.
urbestfriend Posted June 20, 2011 Posted June 20, 2011 Lol at people who are writing him off after one failed innings..! First match will always be nerves and your feet will not move as expected...Need to see few more innings
Andy Posted June 20, 2011 Posted June 20, 2011 Missed the action, Reading some of the posts. Looks another domestic talent who failed at International stage.
