This has to be the first India series(home or away) in many years in which Ravi Shastri hasn't been commentating.

I think there have been many series' (mostly the ones telecast on Ten Sports/Ten cricket) where he hasn't done commentary.

I HATE Bhogle. So glad that I don't have to hear that moron anymore. Tbh, no Indian commentator is world class. Shoutstri is half decent compared to the rest. Says it all.

IMO Bhogle used to be very good and was India's best commentator before he started talking way tooo much and has now become irritating.

Gavaskar is the best' date=' IMO. He has his pressure points where he repeats similar things, but he does offer genuine insight. He also makes an attempt to get the bowlers point of view and thought process when he is with someone like Bishop. Shastri has become the absolute pits of commentary ever since IPL started - he carries the same tone and blabbering into all matches now.[/quote'] Actually, one of the things about Sunny is that he looks at things too much from an Indian and batting perspective. I don't follow the IPL so I don't know about Shastri there but he offers a bit more in terms of bowling and also tactics/field placements during play.

Any commie team without sell-out Siva, motor-mouth Harsha and Greenpeace Chairman Lal, will sound insightful and engaging. I admire Fazeer (and for that matter Tony Cozier) for the fact that they simply stick to commenting on the game, as they see it. There's no hidden agenda or underlying theme to their commentary. If you listen to somebody like Healy, you can tell he's a obnoxius pr!ck who loves taking pot-shots at the opposition at the slightest chance. But Fazeer and Tony just stick the visuals, as they see it.

Tony Cozier is very knowledgeable - knows the entire history of cricket in the Caribbean and is fun listening to for the anecdotes and historical tidbits he gives.

TC just loves the game. The guy is updated on every series around the world. You could put him in a game involving 2 minnows in an empty stadium and he would still do his homework on all the players and have a good time commentating. Compare that to most of the others who have no idea about the games outside the ones they're involved in and cba doing their homework. No need to mention his knowledge about WI cricket.

If a batsman is in full flow and batting well, there is no better commentator than Gavaskar. Master in same batting department, he will talk great about the batsman in picture and would really give great insight. In general, he might or I shall say isnt' really the best out there, but you wanna listen to Gavaskar, if someone like Dravid is batting and like yestrday he was playing some classy shots, if the batsman is in such mood. Regardless of how bias the aussie commies are, there is no better commmentry team than Channel 9. Close fight given by some of English commies because of all there tech stuff which they use to summarize little things. You can't ignore someone like Bill Lawry whose voice quality is just so pleasnt to hear on tv. By far the most unique commentator I should say.

Generally, the thing that I like about WI commentators is their simple love for the game. No hidden agendas (Unlike 'If the Aussies had done this' Gavaskar), no histrionics.

I think he lets his individual personality takes overs in the commentary box. When he does commentary in an Australia/India match he becomes completely different and starts *****ing about everything.
