Jersey #10 Posted June 22, 2011 Posted June 22, 2011 Dhoni is a keeper' date= batsman. Not a specialist batsman. Keepers batting well is an advantage not necessity. That is exactly what Gilly always maintained. On this pitch Dravid also had share of his luck. On this very same pitch Harbhajan and Raina outscored Dravid in the first innings. Did that make Harbhajan is technically more sound. About jetlag.. yes it is important that players arrive well before first match. At bold - welcome to the 21st century, things have changed. It might take you a while to understand it as it seems. Dravid made a very useful 40 in the first inning. I hope you are not telling me that Harbhajan and Raina are better than Dravid. Please hold back on that. At jetlag - it can also be a cover for under performing.
jasjotbains Posted June 22, 2011 Posted June 22, 2011 Dravid will buy a bottle of Jamaican Malibu Rum to Sammy for dropping him when he was 6. Hahahahhahaha seriously :D :D

At jetlag - it can also be a cover for under performing. Like Laxman is a perennial under performer. He has been in sublime for India. But for him we would not have reached no.1 spot in the first place. Where did you keep your head then. In the toilet? About Dhoni.. is he averaging like 20 or something in the Tests? If you are going to harp on only failures in a test match every batsman would be susceptible to criticism. In one match Dravid might click, in another match Gauti might click, another TEndulkar. another Laxman.

I have no problem with Laxman scoring zeros in 10 consecutive innings but I have a good laugh when kids try to find excuses to cover up those zeros. He is obviously worth much more than to be evaluated on this West Indies series. Did I say Dhoni is a bad batsman? don't put words in my mouth
sarcastic Posted June 22, 2011 Posted June 22, 2011 The best no.3 batsman since Bradman Are we missing someone who looks like :punter:
desi pride 1234 Posted June 22, 2011 Author Posted June 22, 2011 Are we missing someone who looks like :punter: he is a mofo punter.:--D
rkt.india Posted June 23, 2011 Posted June 23, 2011 Dhoni looked like a gully player today...showed zero class and don't even get me started on technique b/c there was none How many have technique like RD. He is best when he plays aggressive..he tried defending in the first innings got 0 and attacked in second and managed 16 more. He too has showed many a times that he can stick and battle. He still averages better than many specialist batsmen in the world.
Sir_Afridi Posted June 23, 2011 Posted June 23, 2011 Lets not get carried away by one good innings against a WI team. Here is the reality check of Dravid in last 5 years. - Overall record: 53 matches, average 40 greatly flattered by bullying weak attacks: - Away record: 27 matches, average 35 - vs. England: 5 matches, average 29 - vs. Australia: 10 matches, average 28 - vs. Pakistan: 3 matches, average 38 - vs South Africa: 9 matches, average 26. Then: - vs. Bangladesh average 66 - vs. West Indies average 76 - vs. New Zealand average 73 http://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/player/28114.html?class=1;spanmin1=09+Sep+2006;spanval1=span;template=results;type=allround
Rahul Dravid Posted June 23, 2011 Posted June 23, 2011 when he had lost form everybody started going against him.. typical of indian cricket fans.. but i knew hed be back with a big knock... he is gonna rock this summer as ever... and he just justifies the saying ''form is temporary, class is permanent''.. Legend. But lets not get overboard, we need more hundreds from him...
vamos_rafa Posted June 23, 2011 Posted June 23, 2011 I knew this was coming. One or 2 bad innings from MSD and people would start questioning his technique, temperament, his utility as a batsman, his keeping skills, his hair colour, his married life and everything. And RD is a true legend. More than anything else, his intent was amazing. Earlier on it felt that he was getting blocked but now he's trying to do the 2000-2004 phase wherein he was hitting a loose ball for a 4.

Rahul Dravid Posted June 23, 2011 Posted June 23, 2011 everyone go thru form problems... the best go thru it... and i believe that phase of dravid is done... its time for the consistent dravid.. i bet he will average better than 65 this summer.

Sidhoni Posted June 23, 2011 Posted June 23, 2011 Posters here amazes me. Dissing your world cup captain in an irrelevant thread.. This. /thread
Sidhoni Posted June 23, 2011 Posted June 23, 2011 not dissing' date=' [b']but he was clueless on this pathetic pitch. The point was that only the people with sound technique like Dravid can survive in these conditions. Everything needs to be spoon fed to some people I would talk about Laxman with you but then you will say that he is still in his jetlag and that the schedule sucks...:cantstop: Laxman says:hello:
