King Posted June 27, 2011 Posted June 27, 2011 They should ban the leg byes as well. I can't understand why a batting team should get runs when a batsman fails to use the bat or when bowler bowls a fantastic bouncer that hits the helmet of the clueless batsman and runs away for four.
phaedrus Posted June 27, 2011 Posted June 27, 2011 just get the feeling it might make it even more easier for the batsman to keep hitting throughout the innings. do like the batting powerplay rule though, although find it funny that the ICC is resigned to the fact that the bowling powerplay will be taken from over 11.
Cricket Tragic Posted June 27, 2011 Author Posted June 27, 2011 They should ban the leg byes as well. I can't understand why a batting team should get runs when a batsman fails to use the bat or when bowler bowls a fantastic bouncer that hits the helmet of the clueless batsman and runs away for four. Leg byes and overthrows when the ball hits the stumps have been discussed for ages now.
J P K Posted June 28, 2011 Posted June 28, 2011 If batsmen can`t have runners, bowlers shouldn`t get water New Delhi: Former Indian captain Sunil Gavaskar has slammed the ICC`s decision to abolish runners for injured batsmen in one-day cricket, saying even bowlers should not be allowed to have water as rules should be the same for everyone. The ICC`s Executive Committee has decided to do away with runners for injured batsmen in ODIs and Gavaskar said if that is the case, it should be stringent for the fielding side as well. "I would also like to suggest that there should be no water for bowlers at the boundary end. They bowl one over and come to the boundary where energy drinks are waiting for them," a miffed Gavaskar told a news channel. Gavaskar said if the ICC feels having runners for injured batsmen is not fair then it should also consider doing away with the drinks breaks and the concept of substitute fielders. "There should be no drinks breaks that are usually scheduled after one hour or so. If you are going to make a situation like this then there should not be any substitute fielders either," he said. "There should not be a substitute fielder when a regular player goes off the field. If a fielder gets injured or has cramps, he should either go off the field or stay there. That ways it balances out everything and the batting side is not the only one affected," he said. http://zeenews.india.com/cricket/fullstory.aspx?nid=39209
Holysmoke Posted June 28, 2011 Posted June 28, 2011 If there are no runners allowed Why are substitutes still allowed?
Sachinism Posted June 28, 2011 Posted June 28, 2011 :hmmmm: OK SG we'll give the batsmen water as well

I dont know what SMG was thinking when he said that. :hmmm:
Roshanrocks Posted June 28, 2011 Posted June 28, 2011 Now very soon a bowler will say he wants a runner when bowling EDIT : Even Alex Bowden has the same idea Similarly, a bowler with a torn hamstring may not be able to run in to bowl, but he can still turn his arm over. Why can't the 12th man propel him to the crease in a shopping trolley? Really, why not? It seems simple enough.
mishra Posted June 28, 2011 Posted June 28, 2011 TBF I dont like this no runner stuff too... I hope Dhoni offers a runner to some WI batsman who may need it. ICC has made it clear about where it stands. But it still can be offered to the batsman? Can it?
Mariyam Posted June 28, 2011 Posted June 28, 2011 What about fielders? Why leave them out? ICC should debar them from wearing caps.
Desi Cartman Posted June 28, 2011 Posted June 28, 2011 I agree with him regarding the substitute fielders
Sidhoni Posted June 28, 2011 Posted June 28, 2011 This change was made nearly a month ago, why so many threads now?
Sachin=GOD Posted June 28, 2011 Posted June 28, 2011 This change was made nearly a month ago' date=' why so many threads now?[/quote'] this change was recommended a month ago but the recommendation was accepted 1-2 days ago IIRC.
kabira Posted June 28, 2011 Posted June 28, 2011 Why are substitutes still allowed? we should probably have toilet on the ground as well, so there are no substitute allowed for whatever reason. :hysterical::hysterical::hysterical::hysterical:
DomainK Posted June 28, 2011 Posted June 28, 2011 Load of bull crap from Sunny there. A runner for a batsman != water for bowlers.
DomainK Posted June 28, 2011 Posted June 28, 2011 I agree with him regarding the substitute fielders There are some strict rules when it comes to substitutes. For example, if a bowler stays out of the field for sometime, he can not bowl for a certain period of time. Same goes for the batsman. Substitution can not be substituted (excuse the PJ). It has to be allowed. It's also allowed in other field sports.

bihutoli Posted June 28, 2011 Posted June 28, 2011 what about fans? They should be made to watch all five days of the game shouldn't they?
Holysmoke Posted June 28, 2011 Posted June 28, 2011 Make it like football.. if a person goes off the field for a while, play with 10 players :dontknow:
