sensible-indian Posted January 17, 2015 Posted January 17, 2015 The odds of a howler by DRS is one million times lesser than a howler by umpire. I pick DRS.
AmreekanDesi Posted January 17, 2015 Posted January 17, 2015 we would have lost regardless. I also feel the scoreline would have been the same too
zep1706 Posted January 17, 2015 Posted January 17, 2015 Can't blame it on DRS entirely but it sure did play a major part. The total count was something like 12-3 against India and most of those 12 wrong decisions came at crucial times. It is not an insignificant number.

I believe it was 12-4, but decisions against Australia were of set batsman as well (moreso than the decisions against India e.g. Kohli).
moniker Posted January 17, 2015 Posted January 17, 2015 your whole argument is if pajara in 2nd test or say dhawans in some test were referred to 3rd umpire both would have been ruled not out. IMO bhuvan was not out yet was given out; the point i am making is how are people so confident that any of the other decisions which we thought didn't require using any brains to reverse by 3rd umpire would actually have been reversed. The one instance 3rd umpire came into play he messed it up. I'm confident because from what I've seen most of the times the third umpire takes the correct decision when the on field umpires are not sure. And it is referred to him precisely because the on field umpires are unable to take a decision. I'd trust the third umpire more than the on field umpires as he has the technological resources. If you cite mistakes committed by the third umpire as the reason for not having DRS, then by that token we shouldn't be having third umpires at all in cricket.
jalebi_bhai Posted January 17, 2015 Posted January 17, 2015 I think there should be a points system to analyze the performance of ICC umpires. In all this talk of DRS, no one talks about umpire accountability. What if an umpire makes a blatant howler, forcing the team to use its review?
HippoSucks Posted January 17, 2015 Posted January 17, 2015 If you cite mistakes committed by the third umpire as the reason for not having DRS, then by that token we shouldn't be having third umpires at all in cricket. And since on field umpires make even more mistakes than third umpires, we should remove them too.
-Robin- Posted January 25, 2015 Posted January 25, 2015 http://www.cricbuzz.com/cricket-news/69590/drs-under-the-scanner-in-dunedin This time, the issue was not with the decision meted out by the review system, but by its availability. A technical malfunction with the video equipment robbed Sri Lanka off an opportunity to seek a review.
Cricket_Hacker Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 Yea it was plumb.but the stump cam was not working I guess.Jaya was audibly angry
fineleg Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 They could have got couple of important wickets? Why did AFGH choose not to use DRS!??
bulbul Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 May be they are not kaaaanfident enough...they ahd a huddle though
Sid_SuhaiL Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 Epic fails by AFG captain .. 2 reviews not taken which were out & not bowling their best bowler a full quota of 10 overs. They could've easily restricted BD under 240 .
fineleg Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 From cricinfo: http://www.espncricinfo.com/icc-cricket-world-cup-2015/content/story/834203.html Afghanistan's DRS reluctance Afghanistan are not used to playing with the Decision Review System in place, and as early as the third over of the game they were required to make a call when the umpire struck down an appeal for caught behind against Tamim Iqbal. Mohammad Nabi and his team-mates got into a huddle and discussions went on till the time available to refer ran out. There was a sound on replays, and Snicko registered a spike too, but Afghanistan did not question Steve Davis' not-out decision. Afghanistan received another opportunity in the 41st over when Davis turned down a leg-before shout against Mushfiqur Rahim. Replays again indicated the impact was pad before bat, but they failed to utilise the review again.

G_B_ Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 As i said they seem to lack brains but have the skills.
Cricketics Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 One review rule also sucks. Should have 3.
bowl_out Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 Wouldn't expect more from a captain who bowled his best bowler for only 7 overs despite going for only 20 runs
fineleg Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 Wouldn't expect more from a captain who bowled his best bowler for only 7 overs despite going for only 20 runs Our captains sometimes do that too!! I remember matches where Ind captains dont finish off overs of best bowler on the day. (Which is stupid, I agree).
-Robin- Posted June 17, 2015 Posted June 17, 2015 The argument against the use of DRS technology is that the system is not foolproof yet: Dalmiya Source : Cricbuzz
