Trichromatic Posted July 14, 2011 Posted July 14, 2011 Harper knows that he won't get any sympathy from others as everyone knows how poor he was at umpiring. No one would support him. Typical mentality of a loser, if you can't get people on your side, then try to make people hate your opponent.
DeepFineLeg Posted July 14, 2011 Posted July 14, 2011 Actually , I remember in the same game,After RamPaul was given caught behind, He tried to influence Ian Gould. Can someone ask him what did he said and why did he said. "I think he was suggesting that ball was over head height and should have been no ball" BTW Dhoni or any cricketer will never say that.... It sounds like Hollywood gangster/action movie dialogue. Your comment sounds like you agree with Harper. I wouldn't just rule that out and say that Dhoni never said it. Whats wrong with stating facts as MSD did - India has had problems with Daryl Harper in the past. 1999-Sachin bouncer/LBW episode in Australia was a blot on Harper's career. Indeed, if i remember correctly, the concept of Neutral umpires in tests originated coz of that very series.
singhprakash72 Posted July 14, 2011 Posted July 14, 2011 When I saw the tittle "Dhoni should have been punished" I thought it was for not going for win in the last test....But I believe both Daryl and Dhoni should have kept shut and reported their complaint to ICC instead of making it public.
Blue Panther Posted July 14, 2011 Posted July 14, 2011 Lol, Dhoni is cool man. i hope he actually said that to the baldy...:haha:
Vijay.Sharma Posted July 14, 2011 Posted July 14, 2011 More likely that Dhoni joked with Harper and Harper also took it as a joke at the time but suddenly after figuring out with his lawyers that he can claim some compensation from ICC, he chose to turn this incident around. Because if Dhoni really said that and Harper took it seriously, there is no way in hell that Harper wouldn't have let the Match Refree know about it and officially file a complaint.

Indeed' date= if i remember correctly, the concept of Neutral umpires in tests originated coz of that very series. Because Harper is saying it.... No, Its unbelievable. As i said. The dialogue sounds more like some don threatening someone....He has picked it from some movie flick.... Its not spoken in general sports. Forget about at the professional level. If Harper can call Pakistani team cheat because he thought ball has changed the look, If Dhoni woud have said so, Harper would have immediately complained to match referee that Dhoni shot him at point blank range.

I think neutral umpires were essentially the idea by Ian Chappell and Imran Khan carried the baton forward. By 1994, we had 1 neutral umpire per Test match and 2002 India-West Indies series saw two neutral umpires in a Test. http://es.pn/nzbY0S

nballa Posted July 14, 2011 Posted July 14, 2011 what a classless, senseless remark from this idiot dhoni. 'we've had problems with you before'? icc should take action and ban him for disrespecting the umpires. if this was mlb he would have been tossed out.
Karan114 Posted July 14, 2011 Posted July 14, 2011 Poor little baby Daryl. Dhoni is such a meanie :((

But then... it really feels good if dhoni defends his fellow players without bothering about his Mr.cool image.. Not long ago, he was ridiculing sreesanth

But if Dhoni said it as a joke and Harper took it as a joke at that time then Haroer is being a sour bast@rd now so screw him. But if Dhoni said it seriously at that time then Harper should've let the MR know and lodge an official complaint. No point in talking about it now. But if Dhoni said it, and Harper complained to MR then MR needs to be taken to task.

Sachinism Posted July 14, 2011 Posted July 14, 2011 Duncan and Dhoni re-enact what went down with Harper "What did you do when Harper wanted a word with you?"
mishra Posted July 14, 2011 Posted July 14, 2011 I think Dhoni is being gentleman. Think what will happen if he says Harper is lieing....:hysterical:

Cricketics Posted July 14, 2011 Posted July 14, 2011 Daryl Harper is angry because Dhoni didn't unlock his Iphone few months back and hence when he was in INdia he couldn't use his beloved Iphone
