Around 10 threads a day are started abusing Bhaji and begging for him to be axed. So thought it would be interesting to see the general consensus about wether he should play 1st test!

He has done well for India whenever he got an opportunity but still Mishra got picked ahead of him. Not fair. I think he is the best spinner in India atm even better than Bhajji. Who else thinks the same ?

He has a great googly and can rip his stock leg spinner but his performance in tests has been miserable. Bishoo with far less turn and variety and against much better players of spin, looked far better than Mishra in WI. I can't quite put a finger on what it is that Mishra is missing - is it line, length or lack of control over his spin. I agree with a previous poster that Raina handled him better than Dhoni - for some reason, latter would not give Mishra extended spells in WI esp if Mish would get hit for a few boundaries.
kabira Posted July 18, 2011 Posted July 18, 2011 Mishra has never been given long run. He just played on test match against windies, was dropped for Barbados, should have played 3rd one though. Captain needs to tell him you are required. Ofcourse Mishra has to work on his no ball issue. For me he can take wickets and can knock tailenders quickly. we are going to miss Kumble, last time around Kumble did that job.

Fontaine Posted July 18, 2011 Posted July 18, 2011 Bhajji should definitely get in. But that's not to say that Mishra won't be considered if Bhajji plays poorly. There was an excellent cricinfo article by Aakash Chopra recently which highlighted how Mishra had changed his bowling in terms of revolutions on the ball etc which had really helped his bowling and we saw the results of the in the Windies ODI series. Unfortunately he didn't show that in the test he played or the warm up game, so on merit Bhajji probably just gets in.
Cricketics Posted July 18, 2011 Posted July 18, 2011 Mishra is never getting chance until Bhajji is there or I should say until Bhajji starts to look really really ordinary. It's hard to play 2nd spinner on an overseas tour which is outside subcontinent.

So thought it would be interesting to see the general consensus about wether he should play 1st test! i would drop Bhajji like a hot potato if we found a better spinner but Ojha and mishra have failed to take over as our no 1 spinner(heck they should not even be our 2nd spinner).Ashwin needs a couple of productive domestic seasons for some fine tuning.Its a shame we dont have more spinners in the horizon,this to me me is far more worrying than lack of fast bowlers or middle order bats.

Ultimate_Game Posted July 18, 2011 Posted July 18, 2011 Bhajji for me... Mishra was such a let-down in Tests after the odi series that I am off him for the time being. At least Bhajji has shown what he's capable of whereas Mishra's a big risk.
