Or maybe he's simply injury prone like how Watson used to be. Either way we have to search for other options. I am willing to go back to RP Singh for Tests, especially in pace friendly conditions.

It's the lack of planning and focus on series such as this that's the concern. BCCI is more concerned about the success of IPL and rest of the stuff has been put on the back-burner which is the concern.

BCCI does not real plan anything about Indian cricket. They only about earning money. IPL only started in 2008 but the disease of lack of planning is old.

They all got their desired rest time. It's not BCCI who should be blamed for unfit Zaheer. One can't blame ACB and NZC that Andrew Symonds and Jesse Ryder have been seen drinking before or after the match and have put their chance in trouble.

Texan Posted July 24, 2011 Posted July 24, 2011 Its arrogance on part of the board , when it comes to the planning side of things, they assume that a half baked India side can turn up on away tours get smashed in the first test-effectively using it as practice- and go on to win one of the next. They cant rely solely on the natural brilliance of our stars- ageing as they are- preparing well for a series is so vital. I posted elsewhere that it is very embarrassing to be told by the likes of Hussain that were here under cooked and our prep for the series has been 'piecemeal' and to know that he is right. Exactly! Look at the England team for an example. They didn't win the Ashes in Aus by just turning up a week before the first test. They were there almost a month before. The trained hard. They had the backup England Lions squad there as well and they took a long time getting acclimatised to the conditions. That is how you win overseas tours against quality opposition. Just see how they performed. They even had a small vacation tour before going to Aus to keep the team together. BCCI just expects that all the star players will reach a couple of days before the first match and win easily. They just want to think about money. Money, money, money.... nobody in BCCI cares about cricket!

We have the batting to save this test. We always are nervous starters. Then it's going to be a shootout for the next 3. Zaheer-Ishant-Praveen is a good combo, and let's hope Bhajji gets his act together for the next test. He's already looked much better in this innings.
