RP bowling conincidently improved a lot when he had a season in County cricket. I remember reading that the county club put him in building some strenght & that resulted in him bowling at around 140K. Then he let it go...once the success was there. Now he is back to his pathatic slow speed. I dont understand why BCCI didnt keep some players on standy mode...making them practice etc & be fit & ready. Eng, Aus & SA team regularly do that when they have important series coming up. This excuse that he was on vacation dont cut at all. Also someone please ask why the selectors included that injured & unfit MUNAF PATEL in the squad for WI & now for Eng. He have been sitting in the pavilion all the time. He in not even in contention for selection after 2 frontline bowlers are out. Heck....with PK out now...it was RP selected....& Sree even with his crapy bowling was selected ahead of Munaf. Maybe they know that Munaf cant bowl more then 10 overs in a day

SO are Indian bowlers were carted around in WC. But there is no excuse to bowl badly in these consistent. They are conditions and with decent pace. You do not need to be express to trouble batsman in these conditions. Consistency is needed and bit of effort. DO you see RP putting any effort or running in. He is just jogging line in a park. This is not RP's fault. He was on his vacations after Ranji trophy and IPL and was not ready to play test cricket. Cant they check their fitness NCA first before sending in them so Indian team can avoid the embarrassment they are facing now? First Zak and now RP, nothing is learnt.

Thats the problem, what was the last competitive match he played?? Months ago. There are a few pacemen in Aus coming off the emerging players tour, even if in terms of experience they are behind RP in the pecking order far readier for competitive cricket. And of course poor Munaf is idling away, but he is not so much of a swing bowler

Thats not true anymore, Munaf bowled a lot in the domestic tourno last season and is far fitter than he was.

Munaf bowled 44 overs in the WI test, more overs than PK so please stop saying that's he's not fit enough to bowl. And unlike Sreesanth, his average pace didn't drop down to 77/80 after a spell. Munaf was like a damn metronome bowling between 82-85 for most of the match with accuracy, hardly gave away any runs, hitting the deck hard and completely tied up one end. He actually was able to put the batsmen on the back foot with his bounce. His speed remained around 82-85 to his last overs unlike Sree who is 77-80 and sprays the ball all over the place like a nervous chihuahua pissing on a big dog's turf.

I guess selectors are going by public opinion than selecting a player after assessing his fitness/form etc. They have selected Mithun for WI series, he didn't bowl well. Drop him and select RP. Next series: Drop RP and select Umesh! After one failure Drop Umesh and select Sree!

I am really disappointed Munaf was not given opportunity to play this test. WE have lost the series. Sreesanth is lose head and highly inconsistent. so why not try new option.

Munaf played tour matches. He was fit. Selectors still went for a left-arm pacer thinking that just because you can bowl lollypops with left-arm, so you can trouble batsmen of England. :facepalm: This tour has exposed selection policies. :((

They were showing videos of him from the previous tour ... he was in better shape and surprise surprise he also bowled faster. These guys need to focus more on their fitness !

RP had a good tour of England in July 2007, and a reasonable one of Australia in January 2008, but what has he achieved since then? Just because a bowler performs in the tamasha, doesn't mean he is any good in real cricket.
