changing selectors are not the issue. 1st...BCCI needs to explain (& this has been always the same which they never fix)....why half fit players were selected. Who took their fitness test. How come BCCI never finds out that they are not fit & are short of match fitness. Whats the role NCA plays when they access these players. 2nd...BCCI needs to start creating standby players for away tours. Such players should be always in ready mode....& if possible be in the same country as national team touring to be available to get into team ASAP. 3rd...BCCI need to also stop selecting players on their past reputation or under pressure from their sponsers. Heck...if the sponsers want such a say...then cut them off or take less money from them so that their role is only to have their logo displayed correctly. 4th...BCCI needs....NEEDS full time employees...& not so called honarary people...whose jobs are just to arrange another meeting in a 5-star hotel. 5th...& this will always remain a dream....but have better wickets to play atleast the Ranji & Duleep 1st class games. On dead wicket a batsman having scored 1000 run in a season means nothing if he cant score 100 runs in total on a away tour on bowler helpfull wicket. The plus side of having helpfull wickets IMO will also produce better bowlers for our team. 6th...have more A team tours to countries like SA, Eng & Aus. Heck even NZ will do since the bowl swing more there. They should also send these A team to SL, Ire, BD etc. The A team should be our bench strenght Team

Chairman of selectors Krish Srikkanth offered to resign...

The BCCI has revealed that the chairman of selectors, Krish Srikkanth had taken moral responsibility of the Indian defeats in the Test matches and had offered to quit from the position of chairman of the panel. However, the BCCI had refused to accept his resignation. According to an Indian daily, Srikkanth had asked the BCCI to not consider him for an extended contract with the board given that he had had other financially lucrative offers from the media, especially in television. However, the board had supposedly felt that apart from the series in England, the Indian performances had been good, leading up to the World Cup which India had gone on to win. Srikkanth and his panel has come under a lot of criticism for some, what have been termed as arbitrary selections in recent times. There was Piyush ChawlaÃÔ selection in the World Cup which had many fans scratching their heads in surprise and then, on their tour of England, the selection panel had gone in for RP Singh, who was struggling with his fitness and vacationing in Miami. His performance in the fourth Test of the series left the side with lot to be desired. According to the newspaper, Srikkanth had actually contemplated resigning from the post immediately after the World Cup win to sign off on a high. There are questions that the BCCI will need to think through if they do manage to convince Srikkanth to stay back. The one major issue is that of the others in the panel; Raja Venkat (east zone), Narender Hirwani (central zone) and Surinder Bhave (west zone) could also be allowed to continue for an extended run of another year, while the fifth selector, Yashpal Sharma would have already completed his full term.

2011-12 : Srikkanth to remain as chief selector, Mohinder Amarnath replaces Yashpal Sharma Krishnamachari Srikkanth will continue as the chairman of selectors of the Indian cricket team, sources told CNN-IBN on Tuesday. Four selectors out of five are expected to retain their places in the selection panel, with the only exception of Yashpal Sharma, who will be replaced by Vikram Rathore from North Zone. Rathore was recently appointed as the coach of Punjab Ranji team. The decision on the issue will be ratified at the BCCI's Annual General Meeting (AGM) scheduled for September 19-20. Srikkanth, who replaced Dilip Vengsarkar as chief selector in 2008, had earlier told the BCCI that he was happy to exit after the completion of the term. Former India all-rounder and south zone selector Roger Binny was said to be the frontrunner to replace him. Srikkanth and other his fellow selectors drew a lot of flak for the team's dismal performance in their ongoing tour of England. They were whitewashed 0-4 in the four-Test match series, thus losing their No. 1 Test ranking. They were also beaten convincingly in the one-off Twenty20 game. Selectors were also under the scanner for not sending fully fit players on the tour. The team lost Zaheer Khan on the very first day of the tour which dented team's chances of giving any fight to the opposition team. The five members in the selection committee are selected by the five cricket zones - North Zone, Central Zone, West Zone, East Zone, South Zone.
