CoverDrive Posted December 16, 2011 Posted December 16, 2011 Dream start for him no point speculating what he will do going ahead - would be killer bowler to have in english conditions. he has pushed morkel to third bowler with his wicket taking abilities.
gakgupta Posted December 16, 2011 Posted December 16, 2011 I am not quite sure how successful he would be on sub continent wickets ....but he can very successful in England, SA, WI, OZ and even NZ may be......and they have good spinner in their ranks and can easily play 2 of them......in that case they wouldn't need philander on sub-continent wicktes...
Number Posted December 16, 2011 Posted December 16, 2011 I would like to see their new pacer M de lange for 3rd test match against SL , if they are 2-0 up already. For Philander , I saw he was struggling on his line quite a few times , will have to work on that. if he can bowl in the right areas with some movement , he will be a good bowler in sub continent as well.
G_B_ Posted December 16, 2011 Posted December 16, 2011 I am not quite sure how successful he would be on sub continent wickets ....but he can very successful in England' date=' SA, WI, OZ and even NZ may be......and they have good spinner in their ranks and can easily play 2 of them......in that case they wouldn't need philander on sub-continent wicktes...[/quote'] +1
jairamesh Posted December 16, 2011 Posted December 16, 2011 Those trying to justify Philander needs to prove himself on sub-continent pitches forgets that no fast bowler needs prove themselves on those docile pitches. Philander's Test career start is no fluke if going by his first class average of 19!, which is superior to Steyn and Morkel. And Dhoni would kill to have a bowler like Philander right now, he is not fast, doesn't swing it a mile, not tall, just your ordinary line and length at a respectable pace of 135k. It's just so fustrating knowing Vinay Kumar and Mithun will be lining-up for the first test right now,:headshake:, seeing a bowler like Philander is good enough to trouble the Aussies.
Karan114 Posted December 16, 2011 Posted December 16, 2011 They have another guy now in Merchant De Lange who is as quick as Morkal and Styen' date=' very impressive, saw him the other day and was very impressive, beating the batsman for pace.[/quote'] Yeah I know, he took a five-fer against Australia in the practice game before the Test series. No surprises, though, SA have produced some fine fast bowlers over the years and that is continuing.
Late Cut Posted December 17, 2011 Posted December 17, 2011 Morkel is a latter day Harmison. Folks just haven't caught on to it yet.
SachDan Posted December 17, 2011 Posted December 17, 2011 Another 5-fer! His 4th in six innings :hatsoff:
CoverDrive Posted December 17, 2011 Posted December 17, 2011 south african pravin kumar with little more pace
Ultimate_Game Posted March 15, 2012 Posted March 15, 2012 He's a pretty decent bowler but IMO he's not that good a bat.
rkt.india Posted March 15, 2012 Posted March 15, 2012 south african pravin kumar with little more pace PK is a swing bowler while Philander is a seam bowlers with more accuracy. Seam bowler is always more dangerous than a swing bowler.
Old guy Posted March 15, 2012 Posted March 15, 2012 most underated out of new crop of quick bowlers :hatsoff: and probably the best out of them the way he bowled today with steyn was unbelieveable ingerland better prepare flat tracks :winky:

vvvslaxman Posted March 15, 2012 Posted March 15, 2012 Pitches in australia are diff form sa.Even australian bowlers raped sa batsman on those pitches.Philander does not have the pace and height to succeed in all conditions . Actually Ishant didn't do that in NZ either.
