Well Mendis was suppose to be greater then Murali , see where he is at? His stats certainly not reflective of how good he is, puts ball in good areas, subtle movement, not fast at all. Pollock was certainly faster then him and moved the ball also, I would choose Pattinson over him anyday.Good bowler , consistent, nowhere near a great bowler or we will find out when he come to asia.

btw mendis was different he got wickets cos of mystery once it was gone.. so was his effectiveness like u said this guy keeps it simple.. and uses the oldest trick inbook don know how this will get ineffective i do agree though maintaining htis record woul be hard but whose saying he will ?

He bowls around 135 kmph. IMHO, that's lively pace and he sticks to the basics. Even if we find him out in Asia and he continues to do well on seam friendly tracks wouldn't matter for SA. They will play him. Remember Makhaya Ntini?

You still need to earn your wickets on bowler-friendly tracks. I wouldn't take any credit away from Philander for his phenomenal start to his Test career. There were other and better known bowlers alongside who bowled on the same pitches. For now' date=' he looks good.[/quote'] Good! Remember that when one of our batters score a ton at home! Wish our medium pacers could look at his bowling videos and learn what accuracy means and how being accurate with line and length can be rewarding rather than trying 6 different things in an over. The pitches in NZ haven't exactly been bowler friendly during this tour yet he has picked so many wickets , proof of how good he can be even when conditions do not help him.

But he is not as typical medium pacer as PK who bowls low 120s and then he is not swing bowler. He uses seam and accuracy to great effect.

Absolutely, that is what is most recommended for a fast bowler whether he has pace or not. If one deliver ball after ball in that area, batsman will find it tough to deal with them. I advise this to Umesh Yadav and Ishant in one of the thread to find that length and at their pace it will hard to face them, but it is easier said than done.
