Gambhir tired to go over the covers, the ball came off the splice but still looked like it could clear Pietersen until he leapt backwards and stuck out a left hand. Does that give England a glimmer? 190/2 37.5 to Rahane, 136.0 kph, got him! Finn strikes again and Rahane misses his hundred. It was a full delivery, perhaps a touch slower, that he aimed to play to leg but got a leading edge which carried low to mid-off. A little send-off from Finn, I think 212/3

4th ODI

5.3 to Patel, 145.2 kph, gone! Breakthrough. Full length, Patel goes to whip across the line, misses, then his off and middle stumps are pegged back. England rewarded for a tight start with the ball 18/1 7.4 to Gambhir, 142.3 kph, another goes! Big wicket, Gambhir plays a flat-footed drive and gets an inside edge into middle stump. Ground goes silent and, for now at least, we have a game on 21/2 32.4 to Raina, 152.8 kph, bowled him! Raina continued to slog at everything and has now paid the price. He swings right across a straight one and is given quite a send-off from Finn 177/4

5th ODI

17.1 to Gambhir, 137.8 kph, bowled off the inside edge! Gambhir tried to cut a short of a length ball off the back foot, it was a touch too close to him and he played it on to his stumps 80/1 17.6 to Kohli, 143.9 kph, Kohli hasn't offered a shot and has lost off stump! That ball landed on a good length outside off stump and cut in off the pitch, Kohli moved forward and lifted his bat out of the way, only to the watch the ball come back at him and hit the top of off. It was too full to leave, so Kohli wouldn't have expected that to cut back off the pitch. Double strike from Finn. 80/2

All top order batsmen and not while they were slogging. Also, notice the speeds but sure don't get these facts in your way.

Important - damn important. I love the way he was treated in Australia during the Ashes. No overload at all.

Work load management is one thing but also the improvement in his bowling and the increase in pace.

:agree: He can turn out out be one of the best fast bowler England have ever produced. He has every ingredient. He can still refine his bowling action a bit as he has a little bit of fall towards left. He jumps into the stumps and then fall away rather than jumping straight.

I think he is more of an Ambrose kind of bowler though his action reminds u of piggy but his pace and awkwardness reminds u of ambrose.

I think he can be better than any of the current English bowlers, but has to keep working hard and improve his outswinger. broad the best English bowler at the moment though could go down as a possible great for england only 26.

Why wont I look at the facts.. I said I didnt remember properly .. You have provided facts.. I trust it. Thanks for the effort. However from those facts out of 7 wickets 3 were batsmen trying to hit out .. means taking a risk .. I know I used the wrong term in slogging but what I meant was a risk stroke. Plus I remember the Kohli wicket.. It was a real stupid thing to leave the ball so close. So there goes 4/7 of your facts.. about the speeds .. I accept that he was quick but certainly looking from bare eyes he looked slow.. Its like how Gul looks bowling in UAE even when the speeds show 140+. Can't help it. But I accept .. I was wrong. Thanks for your effort. Yet I will say he has not impressed me. Maybe if he does well this year in India, I may change ma opinion. Fingers crossed he doesnot. If you are talking about ODI's Finn is currently England's best ODI bowler in all conditions, closely followed by Bresnan IMO (gets it to reverse later in the innings). In tests, Jimmy Anderson is the best English bowler by miles. Forget about the stats in the last 2 years, Jimmy has produced the highest quality of bowling. He has been unlucky with his figures since they won the Ashes in Australia. He seems to build pressure, beat the outside edge numerous times but others claim the wickets. Not taking anything away from Broad because he has been superb since the India series but Anderson is still the number 1 English bowler and 2nd behind Steyn in the world right now (not a big gap IMO).

well u know i respect anderson but there is still big gap between steyn and him steyn is just constant threat in every format even if u talk just about tests he is class apart finn has potential to be like steyn :winky:

He has all the potential to be a one of the best bowler in every format. It is really commendable the way he has improved in the last year or two. Eng is really blessed with good bowling options ATM.

I don't think Steyn or Anderson are particularly amazing limited overs bowlers but some of Steyn's spells in the IPL. I think the difference between the 2 of them in tests is that Steyn has shown that he can rip through batting line-ups single-handedly while Anderson cannot do so as regularly. Also on a flat deck, Steyn can crank it up to 150 kph. Steyn is the better of the 2 but in my opinion Anderson has closed the gap in the last 18 months with his bowling exploits in Australia, the UAE and Sri Lanka. He is undoubtedly the number 2 bowler in the world in my eyes.
