coffee_rules Posted September 15, 2011 Author Posted September 15, 2011 There is a THI and a TEA and there is a TI like 3 in hindi wala teeen :P its not aak ri tea nor aak ri thi.. its ti !!! t of tel ( oil ) :hitler: Nooo you are Nikhil there is 'KHHH' sound.. but there is no 'THH' sound in my name :dontknow: The transliteration of the Indian 'th' alphabet (tha thha dha dhha na) is what we use in the names. It is Savitha and not Savita. Savita would rhyme with Bournvita! Hindi numbers should be transliterated as Ek Dho Theen Chaar.

ganeshran Posted September 15, 2011 Posted September 15, 2011 Lets see what Google transliteration thinks Hindi Aakrithi आक्रिथि Aakriti आकृति Tamil (Aakrithi gives the right spelling) Aakriti ஆக்ரிடி Aakrithi ஆக்ரிதி So both of you are right.
coffee_rules Posted September 15, 2011 Author Posted September 15, 2011 Dho is like Dhoni :dontknow: but ok i got it :D Do (usually it is written this way) would sound Do as in dodo. Dhoni should have written his name as 'Dhhoni', ideally. If we use 'Tha' to write Kavitha, how do we write 'Pathan' to get the Tha that comes in 'Ta Tha Da Dha NNa' which is prior to 'Tha Thha Dha Dhha Na' ? It's a slippery slope. PaThan is how it is should have be written (captial T in the middle of a name)!
