Sourav Ganguly, the former India captain, has been appointed chairman of the BCCI's technical committee, replacing Sunil Gavaskar. "Mr Gavaskar has written to us that he has been on the technical committee for seven years and it's time that we search for a fresh face. It is our intention to appoint Sourav Ganguly as the chairman of the technical committee. We haven't yet been able to contact him but hopefully he will give his consent," the BCCI's new president N Srinivasan told reporters.

Thats good news if he accepts it. Indian cricket needs guys like him. It may also result in Dada doing less of commentary - good news for our ears!!!!
Sunny was the previous holder of the position and that didn't work out too well for tv audiences. :cantstop:

So what is the chairman of tech committee supposed to do ?
Nothing. I dont recall any good thing coming out of such committees. Says...Gavaskar was the head of this committee for the last 7 year....& we still dont have fit players.....****ed up schedule....useless 1st class structure...which only creates weak players......poor wickets on which those 1st class games are played....heck we dont have an umpire in the ICC panel. What is this technical committee suppose to do??? probably INVESTIGATE DRS & give suggestion to BCCI abt it. Not to mention...BCCI's Rajiv Shukla once said famously....committees..are made to give suggestions...but its the board's who decides whether to accept it or not.

leking ye techinical committe karta kya hain?
it looks into the technical aspect of the game in the country - things like the structure of Domestic cricket and and state of the stadiums across the country and various rules and regulations which are changed on a regular basis in domestic cricket. Suppose if there's an idea of pink balls being used in domestic cricket etc then I think that might be discussed in the Technical Committee and its recommendations forwarded to the Board.
