Could you make out what speed he was generating ? I think its high time the management just takes in all these fast bowlers in the team ( Yadav, Aron, Nechim, Shukla ) and get rid of the old bowlers like Vk and co ! We dont need them !

IMO, he can certainly bowls in 140Ks. According to Maninder Singh on CNN-IBN, during the England series, he said there are 3 pacers in India who can bowl quick and touch 150K. He took the names of Umesh Yadav, Varun Aaron, and Rahul Shukla. Regarding Rehan Khan, IMO, he has great potential. He is another rare talent in Indian cricket. IMO, he certainly looked he can clock over 140K and even faster. But there is a problem with him as he does not play for any team. Until, he plays matches in domestic cricket or in IPL, no one will see him and until you are seen, no one talk about you. Even Yadav and Aaron are talked about after people saw them in Neo live telecast and IPL. Rahul Shukla is also not talked about much because people have not seen him live on TV and he has been unfortunate to get injuries for 2 consecutive years in 2010 and 2011 and he missed both the IPL as he was selected by Mumbai Indians that is where Maninder Singh saw him as Maninder was there as coach for spinners in MI's camp. If Rehan can go for trials before IPL next year for KKR or RR or any other IPL team like KXI Punjab or RCB, this will do a world of good for him. I hope he gets a team so that he can show his talent.

I will be writing a mail to Aakash Chopra regarding him and will try contact IPL franchises as well thtough e-mails. I will also be keep searching about the IPL trials. They will happen only after the auction next year, maybe in Jan-Feb-March.

No, I have noticed Maninder singh is very passionate about fast bowling and wants India to genuine fast bowlers. And whenever he recommends some players name, he ought to be good. I remember about 4-5 years ago on Sahara India news channel, he always use to take the name of Gautam Gambhir. And you can see where Gautam is today! And he also mentioned the name of Ishant Sharma many a times. And Ishant was not bad too. So, I think if he is recommending the name of Rahul Shukla, he ought to have good pace. I think we will be able to judge him better in the next upcoming IPL. And one more point, I will not be surprised to see some more upcoming fast bowlers from India after Varun Aaron and Umesh Yadav. Now, youngsters have very good example of these 2 fast bowlers, that if you have out and out pace, then your chances of making it into the Indian team is much more.

ShebbySB Posted November 10, 2011 Posted November 10, 2011 r u sure he is a 140K + bowler like UY and varun as we do not wanna waste our time on researching on TRUNDLERS When I saw him he was surely a yard quicker than Aaron,but we've to see him on speedgun & u never know with the Indian Pacers,they lose 15kph in no time.Anyway he has seious ability of bowling real quick,quicker than UY & VA.

That was clocked was about 3 years 10 months ago in January 2008 when he was 17. It is certainly possible a 17 year old hitting 131K and by the time he reaches his 20s, he can bowl 140 ks. Look at Ryan Harris, Flintoff, Bresnan, Broad, and Steve Finn. Finn was 80 mph bowler in U19 WC, but now he touches 93 mph. Even Ishant was around 131K when he was picked initially in his end test against Pak at the age of 18, but he can certainly bowl up to 90 mph now. While Ishant was skinny, Rahul Shukla is a strong and muscular guy.

He was 17 years 4 months at that time. His date of birth is August 28, 1990 and that competition happened on January 9, 2008. So you can see he was not turned 18 by then. Regarding Ishant, his fastest delivery was going around 135-136k in that test and mostyly around 131-132K. While Ishant had already played U-19 cricket and had developed quite a lot in terms of his run up and action, Rahul Shukla has not played age cricekt by then and was new. Regarding Flintoff, if you have him in U19, he was primarily a batsman who could bowl and was just medium pace. Tim Bresnan was medium pace too. Regarding Ryan Harris, I had posted an article about him in which the writer who had seen him from the start of his career said when Harris started his career for South Australia, keeper Graham Manou used to keep up to stumps to him but he gained in pace over the years. Regarding you argument about Kuruvilla and Yohanan, pace bowling is all about attitude and a bowling action through bowler can get things right which are essential to generate pace or whether a bowlers wants to bowl fast or not is also a an aspect. Kuruvilla when was picked had passed his prime even in first class cricket. Less said about Yohanan, his bowling action was never setelled and used to lose his rhythm often how could he bowl fast then.

I mean even if Varun can match the fastest of Umesh..which cud be 148K or so but on average pace of a 5 over spell ..Umesh is faster. But I like the capability to clean bowl that batsmen - which VA has a shade better than UY.
