Jharkhand medium-pacer Rahul Shukla is back to doing what he loves, rattling men at the crease with his speedy deliveries. The 22-year-old, who originally hails from Jaunpur, Uttar Pradesh, is keen to become a key part of JharkhandÃÔ senior side once again. After battling a serious groin injury for close to a year, Rahul on Friday told The Telegraph after the opening dayÃÔ Ranji training at Keenan Stadium, Jamshedpur, on Friday that he would try to increase his speed. Å´peed is my business and I wonÃÕ like to compromise on that front. But I am aware that movement is equally important. I am moving the ball both ways, the well-built Rahul added. The promising pacer kept a low profile last year due to an injury in his lower back. He had a check-up at National Cricket Academy in Bangalore and his fitness was improving when the groin injury started troubling him. But he has now moved ahead. Ūnjuries are part and parcel of a cricketerÃÔ life. I have to look forward to the ensuing season and pick up wickets. Currently, IÃÎ focusing on Jharkhand State Cricket AssociationÃÔ domestic tournaments, Rahul, who honed his skills under legendary Denis Lillee at Chennai-based MRF Pace Academy, added. The groin injury prevented the youngster from playing all matches for Jharkhand. Rahul turned out for a couple of Ranji ties before limping off for treatment. He has been out of the picture since then. Å*etÃÔ not talk of last season. I am optimistic of making a lasting impression in the matches ahead, said Rahul, who has so far notched up a fair tally of 18 wickets in seven Ranji matches. He added that his recent stint at Loveborough University, Leicestershire, UK, for a session on bio-mechanics helped him a lot. Ū was suggested some exercises which proved beneficial. Now, IÃ×e begun bowling at 140-plus kmph, Rahul said, adding he started at 125kmph. On whether he would like to shatter partner Varun AaronÃÔ record speed of 153.5kmph, he said: Ū will try my best to attain that kind of speed. God willing, I will gain more speed in the months to come. Varun bowled the fastest ball in the Indian domestic cricket circuit against Gujarat in the Vijay Hazare Trophy final in March this year. Rahul, who made Jamshedpur his base in 2007, is also getting encouragement from the JSCA. The state outfitÃÔ secretary Rajesh Verma said he was glad the cricketer was back in shape. Å©e has the potential to break into the Indian team. We have high hopes from him, Verma said.

Camp for a ranji team in a stadium in such pathetic state with overgrown grass, stands crying for a coat of paint and some maintennace. Wonder how good the training facilities will be at this ground. BTW does anyone know how many state associations in India have got bowling caches with their ranji teams? If there is one team that should employ a professional bowling coach of repute (if they don't have one), its Jharkhand.

ShebbySB has seen him bowling faster than Aaron. Maninder also talked about him on CNN-IBN. But even after than can still turn out like Pankaj Singh Gentle giant at 125K.

He is an upcoming bowler and we all need to know about our coming fast bowlers through these articles.

maniac Posted October 5, 2011 Posted October 5, 2011 Fast bowlers in India need to be blooded early into international arena...the reason why so many of our seasoned FC tundlers are so succesul in domestic is because they figure out other ways to get batsmen out while comprimising pace. As the faster you bowl not only makes it easier for the batsmen but also increases your risk of being burned out. Take a look at Pak for ex...their bowlers who come in pretty late in to the squad like Tanvir Ahmed etc etc don't have the pace either...
