youngindia Posted March 2, 2014 Posted March 2, 2014 he and the likes of karthik,rayudu have to do much more. their seniority has played a role in their selection and they cannot be making mistakes like junior players do.some very disappointing shots and lack of intelligence from them this tournament. they have to make the adjustments quicker. rayudu did a better job today. but still some way to go. not at all satisfactory that senior FC players are not making the international grade quickly even today.jadeja is improving rapidly since those knocks in NZ.

Nothing wrong with the interview. He is saying #4 poses challenges depending on the scorecard whereas as an opener it is a clean slate.

Obviously, we did not win, but, as a young unit, we approached every game very well. - Freaking winless tours! India had few good sessions here and there but as a team they were failures in NZ and RSA. "The attitude was good. That's what matters. Happy that the boys are putting in effort. I'm happy for that!" - Wins don't meant sh!t anymore. "Especially, I want to mention the bowlers, [Amit] Mishra, [Ravindra] Jadeja, [Ravichandran] Ashwin, and then Bhuvenshwar [Kumar] and [Mohammed] Shami all bowled very well. The credit goes to them." - Conquered Afghanistan. Joy to the world. All bowling woes are gone!! Rahane is a fantastic test prospect but he has been a real choker in ODI's so far. The tone of this article suggest he thinks he is a shoe-in for number 4 slot in world cup.

He can be really handy for us in overseas conditions. Keeping world cup in mind, we don't really need all hitters who can "change the game" in few overs. We will need players like Rahane who can help the team chase 260-270 in Australia during world cup when the team is reeling at 50-3. It won't be 300+ every game there. We have to keep that in mind. Bowling of oppositions can't be torn apart that easily.
