Vaughan: England paid the price in India for bullying teams at home

Strongly disagree. The difference between England's test and 1 day side is massive. When England toured in 2008/2009 India won 1-0. England were in control of the 1st test for much of the match and only lost because India chased down almost 400 thanks to Sehwag's 80 odd of 60 balls and Sachin's century. In the 2nd test, England drew the match comfortably. England have improved a lot since then and i think next years test series will be closely fought.

'Would have, should have' don't work. Tell us what has happened and what was done. If you go by what would have happened then Indian would not have lost test series against England this summer because no 1 test team never loses like that. Facepalm.gif

If that was the case, then, in the Ashes 2005 test series, why did Australia suddenly started performing badly as soon as they lost McGrath on the eve of the 2nd test?

Best teams do lose matches, no big deal. But what's the point of saying that India would have pounded them if tests were played in India now? Just doesn't make sense.

He is right. How many series have we lost at home for the last 25 years?
The thing is he is not saying India would just beat England but potentially win 4-0 which would never happen.

That part is not correct. With a bowling line up like ours, there is no way we can win 4-0, unless all our test matches are played on rank turners. 2-1 is a more realistic scoreline.

Totally agree with you but not with Shastri :--D

This is what I expect from a sensible expert. Only fans would make statement what Shastri made. Someone should Shastri when was the last time we pounded a team in 3-4 match series even at home. Completely outplaying opposition in all departments? I guess Shastri is hurt by the treatment he got in England and thus making statements by going at the level of British experts.

Shastri just wanted to take the piss after the arrogant comments by English commies last time around. The 5-0 ODI scoreline makes sure no one can ridicule his comments and by the time the test series actually happens, everyone would have forgotten them

 If we played a series where we lost ODI or Test series and then for whatever reason other one didn't happen and some 'expert' said India would have lost the 2nd part of the series as well. Would you guys react the same?

I for one believe England might have been crushed 4-0..obviously, here Shastri is targetting Nasseer and Botham and making light of the fake No1 position of the 'Rest of the world' team.

shastri is out of his mind.... england last 3 times in india in tests----- 2002lost 1-0, 2006 drew 1-1, 2008 lost 1-0 england havent been drubbed by india anytime, india have a mentality of win 1test nd draw 2 shastri is just expressing his frustration nd humiliation which he faced in england in form of this 5-0 win

Shastri is trying to go after some English Jingoistic analysts..LOL India atleast played well in ODIs and all the games were close. They should have won 2-1...but England goes thrashed 5-0. They don't even have an excuse of under prepration, they came 2 weeks in advance. LOL I think their batting will not score big runs in India, but their bowling wil be challenging. We have to play really well to get to 4-0. We are always slow starters.
