asterix Posted October 29, 2011 Posted October 29, 2011 I did had an inkling that Kolkata will strike back.. and it did..I'm not in the favour of giving too many matches to this venue. The Pitch Curator has a history of going against the team. Also the Local board is of the rival faction of the ruling panel in BCCI.. This pitch curator is an egoistic bastard and can do the damage during the test match. He's done it earlier and he can do it again..
VRV Singh Posted October 29, 2011 Posted October 29, 2011 There is no big problem. I agree though that it would be positive if a new guy was given the captaincy. T20s are usually infrequent and there aren't many outside the World tournament, so it would be good experience for a Gambhir or Kohli. Maybe help MSD a little, though probably negligible. The players are made for the format. Batting issues like today are probably infrequent.
gakgupta Posted October 29, 2011 Posted October 29, 2011 Sometimes I feel that our T20 team selection is more like a trophy shelf of people put their just to complete the 11. As if the selectors are trying to feel grateful to some people who did well in an odd domestic match or something and didn't get his due. Or possibly they are just trying to maintain their finances by picking people who can reach the venue with the lowest possible air-fare. Something is wrong somewhere. Not the kind of team selection you would expect, with all the IPL talent and stuff at their disposal. what they could have done better....i think team was fair enough except vinni koomar....but again they can't jeopardize varron or umesh by having them play tonty-20
Sundar88 Posted October 29, 2011 Posted October 29, 2011 The next 3 world T20's will all be played in the subcontinent, one of them in India. We should win AT LEAST one of those tournaments to justify the IPL's existence. Ideally, we should win all 3. If we don't win even one of those they should cancel the IPL and CL once and for all. The problem though, is that I think our team and selectors just don't seem to take the format seriously. I think they have gone into a mindset that the only "real" T20 matches are IPL/CL matches. They treat international T20 matches like practice matches and select crappy players in the team for these tournaments. There was no reason to pick Uthappa and Pathan for this one-off T20 against England. Why fix something that isn't broken? They should have just retained the winning team from the 5th ODI. This really is a golden opportunity to have 3 consecutive tournaments played in the subcontinent. Really hope we can increase our ICC trophy count in the coming years, that will bridge the gap between us and Australia and make us an even superior team as compared to teams like South Africa and England who are good teams but notoriously poor on the big stage.
Tiger80 Posted October 29, 2011 Posted October 29, 2011 At present Pakistan is going to be favourate for the 2012 T20 WC .With Riaz Gul Abdur rehman ,Ajmal,Afridi they has the capability to defend very low totals.I think We need Bhajji,Jadeja ,Ashwin and Rahul Sharma to be in our spin department Two of them that will contribute with bowl and bat should be in and the third one should depend on condition. As for pacers I can only
div Posted October 29, 2011 Posted October 29, 2011 ^India-6 Pakistan-7 yes at present Pakistan is the favourite
Sundar88 Posted October 29, 2011 Posted October 29, 2011 Death bowlers. We don't have those ****ers. Aaron was bowling quick yorkers consistently the other day, during the 4th ODI I think, in the death overs. But they didn't even give him a chance. As for today's T20, the game was over in the first 20 overs, we batted poorly.

Trichromatic Posted October 29, 2011 Posted October 29, 2011 And Afridi is not in the side. They lost too many matches under him recently. :winky:

He didn't manage to get more than a couple of matches even for his IPL team. I can't recall one bowler we have who is a good death bowler. Not even Zaheer. RP Singh comes to mind but even he is no good anymore.
Manny_Pacquiao Posted October 29, 2011 Posted October 29, 2011 :cantstop: But seriously Pak has some decent T20 bowlers and they are never short of sloggers. So they are a good side in T20's. no, they are not. arent they on a streak of 9 consecutive losses or something? that number 7 ranking is well deserved. india's t20 team sucks. this current group of players isnt good enough to threaten the likes of ingerland and australia. the batsmen are too slow, and india don't have spinners that can contain. india can be a good T20 side, but with a different set of players. dropping dhoni has to be the first step, the guy is a waste of space in this format. i cant remember a single good innings he has played in an international t20. i would play the following side: Uthappa sehwag raina yuvraj yusuf rayudu harbhajan abdulla ashwin aaron rp singh rayudu or uthappa can keep, raina or sehwag (or even harbhajan?) can lead the side. plenty of depth in batting, with ashwin at 9. you dont need too many specialist batsmen in t20, even lower order sloggers like harbhajan or abdulla can score a quick 20 or 30. somebody like kohli or gambhir - aside from being too slow for the format - would be a waste of a spot. strike rate is more important than runs, i would happily take 180 all out over a 150/4. india's current batting lineup will get the 2nd score more often than not. army of spinners that can contain and give away no more than 20-30 in 4 overs with a wicket or two. aaron looks like he can land a yorker and get an early breakthrough. rp singh regularly finishes top of the IPL wickets column and bowls good lengths at the death.
WC2011INDIA Posted October 29, 2011 Posted October 29, 2011 ^Rayudu really? The guy is completely out of form. I think Valthaty should be given a chance in T20 format of the game.
Pagalpanti Posted October 29, 2011 Posted October 29, 2011 To be honest, we don't seem to be caring much about the T20's, it really shows as we play the least no. of T20's among top nations. Playing IPL wont help, we hardly play 2-3 T20I's in a year, so building a team is impossible. And for t20 we need specialist bowlers cuz bowlers win you matches, not bowlers like PK and VK who are one dimensional, no pace or variations.
MCcricket Posted October 29, 2011 Posted October 29, 2011 There is no denying the pitch was substandard, the uneven bounce, turn, maybe it is the beginning of the cricket season , or rains, but yeas pitch was below par and Mr Mukherjee a pitch can have a g8 bearing on score, a team could score 400 to 150 dending on the pitch and conditions alone.
Sundar88 Posted October 29, 2011 Posted October 29, 2011 My team for the world T20 next year would be: Gambhir Sehwag Kohli Yuvraj Raina Dhoni © Jadeja Dartbhajan (for his all-round ability, in case top order collapses like it did against England) Ashwin Zaheer Aaron I think those are the best T20 players we've got. Rahul Sharma hasn't been tried yet and Umesh seems to be a bit wayward so I wouldn't risk him in a tournament like this. Aaron has better control and should be persisted with.
vamos_rafa Posted October 29, 2011 Posted October 29, 2011 This is not the first time that Mukherjee has come under attack from the Indian camp. In 2005, he had laid a greentop that helped South Africa beat India by 10 wickets. The move made headlines as it was alleged that Mukherjee had deliberately prepared a greentop to help the visitors as Sourav Ganguly was part of the Indian team. WTF is that story?
Stuge Posted October 29, 2011 Posted October 29, 2011 I bet India vs WI match won't last for 3 days, if this sort of pitch is used for that match .
BeautifulGame Posted October 29, 2011 Posted October 29, 2011 The main reason we are struggling in T20 format is not because of batsmen or bowlers or captain MSD but because India havent played much T20 international matches. When we play once every full moon we try out new players every now and then and players are confused with their role. Most teams have played enough T20 matches and have a settled line up unlike us.We went into world cups with the players not even playing together once. We are the team that played least (just 6 in 4 years) international T20 of all teams and it is the main reason we suck badly. Having a couple of death bowlers help us obviously too.But that isnt the main reason. I would play this team against Aus T20 and hopefully BCCI can arrange another few before world cup. Sehwag Gambhir Kohli Raina Yuvi Dhoni Jadeja Harbajan Ashwin Zaheer / Yadav Varon Aaron
MCcricket Posted October 29, 2011 Posted October 29, 2011 Any authentic source proving that he actually did this on purpose or is this is some typical conspiracy bullshyt theory of some armchair critics?:winky: Please read the Post , I can't help u if u r challenged with ur vocabulary , there are no insinuations of conspiracy, I hope I am talking to a kid , b'coz certainly ur mental ability suggests so.
