Why is it adha and not poora?(please don't kill me for asking) :fear:
Hahaha :--D its arabic word "Al-Adha" not urdu/hindi "aadha"... "Eid-ul-Adha" means "Festival of Sacrifice" EID Mubarak to all :icflove:

Do people really call it Eid-ul-Adha?? In Bihar we called it Bakriid. Brings back memories of some great mutton and chicken kababs and dishes. Hope folks had a tummy full :-)

Both are correct. Colloquially, people prefer to call it baqri-id because a baqra is sacrificed on that day. How convenient. :D The irony is that, the root word baqara means cow/bull in Arabic and not goat that we take it to mean in Hindi/Urdu.
