Playing irresponsibly for last few years?? He has been one of our best test batsman over the last 2 years.Its only been these last 4-5 test matches where he has been ordinary and reason for that also has been technical flaws with his batting as well(played these 4-5 tests overseas). P.S: What does creative freedom mean ?

Comparing his avg. with Sachin is near stupidity. If that was the case then VVS wouldn't have survived in the Test Squad for so long. He is there because of his match saving ability. Yes, he hasn't been able to deliver in England (which was surprising considering his caliber and technique). Remember Dravid was in a slump from 2009-11. But people didn't keenly notice it as the team was winning. This time only he is standing tall without any valuable support. Salute him. Easy to say blood in all the youngsters at once, change batting orders, etc. Remember this trio has done enough for Indian test cricket. Let's respect them and not take hasty decisions. We didn't give them medals (not talking about Sachin here) when they won/saved matches.

His good scores have been against srilanka,Nz, in last 2 years agianst aus he averages 28,eng-10, He used to average around 50 against good attacks and did well away from home inspite of his technical flaws because he started cautiously and then attacked and creative freedom is football term dhoni calls him our playmaker so i used it.

Sehwag was not a careless player earlier. I have seen him playing cautiously when bowler is bowling well. He always played like if there is a ball to be hit, he will hit it and it isn't there, he won't try. Now it seems that he is going after those deliveries which are not his zone. On flat pitches, he used to hit from ball 1, but tricky surfaces he used to wait for a bad delivery to break free.

If this remain their performance...ind hav much to worry abt the aus tour....dhoni disappointed too....prob ranji games 4 laxman shud hav helped him and the indian team....laxu shud have forced a partenership with his age old friend rahul dravid!!

We should have fielded some brand new guy instead of UV, just to continue testing the #6 spot. It's dreadful that we haven't been able to fill Dada's boots. Are RG sharma and Pujara still injured? Do we have any technically decent guys in the domestic league? btw, I do believe that we are winning this match. just need to get chandu out

The complete lack of grittiness and application by no. 6,7 and 8 (made worse by bhajji's absence, though not ur tyical gritty batsman) has lengthened India's tail beginning at no.6, effectively making the last 6 batsmen sitting ducks.

This selection committee does not have the b a l l s to affect an overhaul and rebuild the test side. They will let all the seniors play their merry way until they decide to become commentators. Only batter playing with any sense of pride and responsibility is dravid :hatsoff: All other batters suck big time

Manny_Pacquiao Posted November 7, 2011 Posted November 7, 2011 its indeed worrying how india's batting has declined since last winter. but its not just a batting slide, the whole team has steadily declined. a lot of it has to do with several players losing form at the same time, injuries didn't help with that either. the indian batsmen enjoyed a golden run for a long time, making massive runs in every single series so this kind of decline was long overdue. indian cricket needs to change its ways and stop depending on it's batting lineup, batting declines like these are all the more reason to concentrate on improving the bowling. i think indian cricket will need at least 1 year to get the test team into the shape it used to be in.

Only 3400+ runs @54 with a strike rate of over 93 in 36 Tests :facepalm: drop him now...............and along with him also drop Dravid, Laxman, Dhoni, Goddy, Gambhir and Zak
