cowboysfan
Runs to third man is a strength in Tests? :idunno: its his bread and butter shot,he gets away with it LOI cricket because of the lack of slip fielders. Link to comment
veer
ohhh boy dont start me on that thirdman shots.. it works in asia.. but he couldnt buy those runs in Aus and England.. opposition knew that and he paid heavily because of that shot... Link to comment
ViruRulez
Gauti is missing consistency even more than Veeru. Hope he regains his test form soon. Link to comment
Cricketics
Bhai logo araam se tension na lo. Abhi khel shuru hua hai. He is too good a player to not score. Not many openers in the world average over 45. We lucky to have such openers. Just wait. He's the best opener in India with Sehwag. Link to comment
asterix
He needs to curb his approach of 'fishing outside his offstump' to scroe runs.. Gone are the days. Bowlers now a days have figured that out...You might be able to score few runs but not every time and especially in Test cricket.. Is there a batting coach in the team? Who are the coaches and what the EFF these guys are doing? The team should have Batting, Bowling (I know there's one from Australia), Fielding etc. Fletcher is there to eat & sleep only.. BeautifulGame
1 score of <25 and suddenly the knives come out even though gambhir hasnt done well in last 2 test series, but still gambhir has avged 48.22 in the last 2 years in odis performing everywhere and in all conditions - http://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/player/28763.html?class=2;filter=advanced;orderby=start;spanmin1=01+Jun+2010;spanval1=span;template=results;type=allround;view=innings and its only a matter of time before gambhir brings his odi form in tests. this was the 1st time he was batting without dravid & laxman in the xi so he was a bit confused as how to play. now with pujara & kohli giving confidence, gambhir should do well in the 2nd innings & the 2nd test :haha: Link to comment
Sidhoni
Totally agreed with the OP. He is just looking to dab every other delivery which is outside off stump and pitched on a good - shortish length past the slip cordon. That shot has been successful for him at times but many a times he has lost his wicket while playing that. Moreover, that shot is more suited to limited overs cricket and not test matches and that too on in he first session of the match. Link to comment
jind
Mukund has a somewhat similar problem.. Easy runs there in First Class cricket. However, at the int'l level, a lot of inside edges onto the stumps and slip catching practice. Link to comment
Crookbond
Gambhir’s short of runs, but he’s looking good http://www.wisdenindia.com/gambhirs-short-of-runs-but-hes-looking-good One of the differentiators in the two periods is the number of Tests Gambhir has played in the subcontinent. The majority in the 2008-10 period was at home, which was not the case after January 2010. The latter period, however, saw a collective Indian batting meltdown, so too much shouldn’t, perhaps, be read into Gambhir’s poor form. That Gambhir isn’t getting Test runs is a fact, but it’s also a fact that in the two periods in question, his One-Day International form has been the exact opposite. When he had a purple patch in Tests, Gambhir averaged only 35.2 in ODIs, but since January 2010, he has averaged 48.2. That does augur well for Gambhir, and for those who believe that Gambhir’s form hasn’t completely deserted him. Link to comment

The Dark Horse
And all the while people were calling for Dravid's and Laxman's retirement rather than dropping Gambhir or Sehwag. Link to comment

Ultimate_Game
And all the while people were calling for Dravid's and Laxman's retirement rather than dropping Gambhir or Sehwag. The problem is the lack of options at the top for us. I hoped Mukund would step up but he has regressed to the point he couldn't even average on WI A tour. Rahane didn't fare much better either. If either of them had taken their chances and performed on A tour like Pujara did I am sure it would have cranked pressure on Gambhir & Sehwag. But if they continue to fail like that, I would love to see Rahane get a go in place of one of them. Link to comment
SLICKR392
Drop him for a series and am dead sure he will come back strongly. Drop him every alternate series :cantstop: Link to comment
