Naaz-neesh Posted December 5, 2011 Posted December 5, 2011 he will better off imitating waqar or brett lee, i don't think yadav has the height or bowling style to be like mcgrath
Nikhil_cric Posted December 5, 2011 Posted December 5, 2011 he will better off imitating waqar or brett lee' date=' i don't think yadav has the height or bowling style to be like mcgrath[/quote'] Agreed. he should bowl full and fast. Remember pace+swing is a devastating combination. India needs a strike bowler and im hoping yadav becomes one. Mcgrath was probably the only bowler of his type who has a good record in the subcontinent and that was because of his height and incredible accuracy
Trundler27 Posted December 5, 2011 Posted December 5, 2011 Poor fella... as soon as he tries to become mcgrath, he gets bludgeoned for 75 runs in 10 ovrs :giggle:. He should try and stay himself. Overall i have been very impressed by his international performances so far on dead indian tracks. Can't wait to see this guy in Australia specially at perth in the 3rd test!
Utalk Posted December 5, 2011 Posted December 5, 2011 This guy is a good bowler. Have been impressed by him.

carnish Posted December 5, 2011 Posted December 5, 2011 McGrath had a cracking yorker... this guy bowled slow length deliveries way outside the off stump .... and it was the worst display of death bowling i saw today by the indians... i guess umesh can be a decent test bowler but as a ODI bowler he needs to improve a lot... even VK is better than him
JeffThommo_fan Posted December 5, 2011 Posted December 5, 2011 Its shocking to see the amount of people who idolize McGrath. I can't seem to think of any bowler who has idolized- 1. Jeff Thomson 2. Dennis Lillee 3. Brett Lee 4. Shane Bond and the pack Its 'follow the pack' kind of mentality that many people possess. I think it has something to do with media manners that the intl players are given. So, to deal with media, its better to give the most safe and best answer, whether or not they mean it. If somebody asks about your fav bowler, say Glenn McGrath and If somebody asks you about your fav batsman, say Sachin Tendulkar.
JeffThommo_fan Posted December 5, 2011 Posted December 5, 2011 So, how was our Umesh Glenn Yadav performance today?? The day he was talking about to emulate Glenn McGrath, the next match he is clobbered around the park
Utalk Posted December 5, 2011 Posted December 5, 2011 Bad day at the office. Happens to the best. This kid will go far Mark my words.

Dennis Lillee 3. Brett Lee 4. Shane Bond and the pack Cos he is the best fast bowler of the last 15 years or so. McGrath was a **** on the field but was the greatest bowler of his era. Australia rarely lost when he was in the side. He had success against all the top batsman of his era and played up until 37. Lillee is a hero to older Australians, Brett Lee is not on McGrath's level (as good a bowler as he is) and Shane Bond was injury prone (even if he was amazing when fit).
vvvslaxman Posted December 5, 2011 Posted December 5, 2011 So' date=' how was our Umesh Glenn Yadav performance today?? The day he was talking about to emulate Glenn McGrath, the next match he is clobbered around the park[/quote'] Glenn Mcgrath was rarely clobbered around the park. Don't blame Mcgraw for *****y bowling. He hasn't even achieved 1% of what Glen has achieved.
Magneto Posted December 6, 2011 Posted December 6, 2011 Let him try and be India's Umesh Yadav ji first.

Rightarmfast Posted December 6, 2011 Posted December 6, 2011 i was just joking. regarding mcgrath' date=' even in wc 1999, he clocked over 140 and he was successful even before 1997. i watched a video of him 1994 ashes in england and he was pretty quick and destroyed england then.[/quote'] Mcgrath did bowl at 88mph in 99WC. Although even when he supposedly ' slow' , ie during the *** end of his career, he could still bowl around 138kph. I remember in 97, in a match in WI, he bowled seriously quick. He could have bowled quick had he wanted to, is my assumption.
Rightarmfast Posted December 6, 2011 Posted December 6, 2011 No buddy' date=' I am settled in Bangalore now. I played till 95-96. Used to live in Ranchi then, close to Birsa Chowk[/quote'] Cool, I am in Blore too...RT Nagar. Will be back soon!

It's widely known fact that it is rkt only, who revived india's fortune at fast bowling, see now we have 3 bowlers in indian team throwing thunderbolts at 140+ in tandem. You have been silent onlooker most of the time. :--D
