Agreed. It could have been anyone else but Mithun. I am not trying to say that it should have been Ifran or anyone particular. It was just a ticket to Australia' date=' I don;t think Mithun or anyone else would really be in any contention of playing there.[/quote'] It is very much possible. It is a long tour and injuries are sure shot possibilities. Look at England last year in Ashes. They had to call d extra fast bowlers as Finn and Broad got injured and went back amidst the series. We already have one suspect in Zak. Ishant has played 10 tests already in 6 months and has bowled a lot. Umesh and Aaron all are rookies and I hope they do well.

Good move to bring in Pathan for the next two ODIs. He should replace Mithun in the playing XI (from the 3rd ODI) and Aaron can come in place of Yadav. Let us see how good he really is or he is just a domestic cricket bully.

The only debate here is if Mithun should have been picked for the test squad ..if no who else ? otherwise a good call ..IKP is a decent ODI package , not a test class bowler ..Abu Nechim & Gony have no experience and expecting them to debute in a important series like this some of you being very unrealestic ...we already have 2 bowlres in the squad who have played only a handfull of games .

:WTF: Cricinfo now says Mithun replaces PK for Aussies and you are saying Irfan replace Yadav for WI ODIs. WTF is going on. Mithun should have no way replaced PK for the Aussie series and Irfan should have no way replaced Yadav but instead replaced Mithun etc. WTF is going on FFS.
:hysterical:

The only guy to look like giving zak a run for his money is Irfan in the last decade before he was dropped. Let's get him on ...pick up those 5fers and we'll be good
How many 5-fers he has apart from BD and Zim.

He too is as good as a rookie. Besides he looks worse than he looked 6 months back in WIndies.

I can kinda say for sure now that YAdav may play 50 tests and at least 50 ODI's and i think the same for Varun too........ishant has already played a lot. Mithin's future - atleast for me as a test bowler does not look promising........ where as I feel Rahul Sharma or Ashwin will play quite a lot. i feel even GONY or Nachim or DINDA..if they maintain their fitness will play 1 day and test cricekt for INDIA for long............. Mithun is not promising.

I think this is excellent selection and planning. Only regret is my personal favorite, Manpreet Gony, who was the 2nd highest wicket taker so far, is not selected. Everything else is fine. 1. Mithun is included in the squad just for the grooming purposes. There are 4 other bowlers as well who will be the first choice bowlers, as of now. 2. Selection panel wanted to check Mithun's match fitness (not match form**), so they gave him the game here in 3rd ODI and thats y Aaron was rested in this match. Aaron will come back in the next matches. 3. Umesh is not dropped off the last two ODIs. He is left out bcoz he will be leaving early for Australia. Very good planning here, must appreciate :two_thumbs_up: 4. Why pick Irfan Pathan for last 2 ODIs if he is not going to Australia? :hmmm: The ans is, selectors don't think or not sure that Irfan bowling is test standard. So, they don't want to take chance by picking him in the test team. So, why in ODIs? After Umesh early departure for Australia, 1 place is vacant. Irfan is the leading wicket taker in Ranji. So, better try him first in these two ODIs. **About Abhimanyu Mithun, team management somehow feels that he is one for the future. Thats y, in last 1 yr, they just keep picking him and keep dropping him. They thinks this Aus tour is best time to groom him as the 5th pacer.
CUd u throw some light as to why ABU IS IGNORED always and why not selecting a Always performing DINDA who is definitely faster then Mithun...??

he must play n get the new ball' date='[b']only then we'll able to judge
we can judge him even if he didnt get new ball... fed up by these players who can either Bowl using new ball or only old ball...Or only in Short spells or only at tail eneders :yikes:
