to be honest in the case of Yadav he does have better set of stats than Nechim. You can view this on cricinfo ranji record. Plus Viderbha do tend to yo-yo between divisions. I looked at Nechim's ranji stats year on year, and to be honest there are plenty of bowlers who have done better. Your right on Aaron. I feel that he should have proved himself first. Maybe what goes against Nechim is his height. He is barely 5 foot 7 inches. Malinga was taller than him based on the matches i have seen for MI. Maybe there is an instruction from the coach and captain to selectors to find tall and well built bowlers who they can mould? Both Umesh and Aaron are tall (more than 6 feet) and well built

What are you talking about. He is no 5 feet 7. He is as tall as Yadav and Aaron and Yadav and Aaron are not over 6 feet, both below. Yadav around 5'9", Aaron around 5'10".

My point was that there will always be deserving players waiting in the ranks for a spot. Selectors cannot pick everyone and make them play at once. With the amount of cricket we play, its more likely that most bowlers wilth good domestic records will get a cap sooner or later. W.r.t Mithun's selection, my guess is that since he already made his debut and played a handful of matches for India, selectors are going with him. A player should be given a decent number of chances before being sent back to domestic cricket to improve.

You cannot give players chances by blind eyes. Mithun is young but he is half cooked. He lacks basic elements of fast bowling. Unless and until, selectors are blind, i just do not understand why they cannot see which I can see and know that right now it is worthless to waste their on Mithun. He is bowling only as quick as Vinay Kumar right now and without line and length or the away movement Vinay gets. Basic elements for success are same wherever he plays at international level and as he lacks them, he is not worth the punt. Even Vinay would have been better for tests than Mithun. You cannot pick players just based on stats, need to have eye for talent that is why those selectors are appointed. Otherwise, BCCI president and secretary could have selected players by seeing the stats only from their bedrooms.

^ Nechim plays in the plate league while Mithun plays in the elite league

Nechim has one man army bowling attack, plays on pattas. Mithun plays on helpful tracks in like Chinnaswami or Gangotri Glades, Mysore. Tracks in general in Elite are better than plate league.

No...He is as tall as Dhoni, 5'9"-5'10". Aaron is around 5'10"-5'11". Both are less than 6 foot. Zaheer is 6 feet.

You are refuting a straw man here. My point wasnt that Mithun is a better bowler by virtue of his playing in the elite league, rather that Mithun stats are marginally better than Nechim considering the fact that he plays in a division with traditionally stronger teams. It was in response to a post above me. There will be always be players who are deserving of a cap waiting in the wings. But that doesn't mean the team should become a see saw of players coming for a series then disappearing after that. If a player is given a cap, selectors should stick with him for atleast 10 -12 tests to let him prove himself. Even if after that he doesn't perform he should be sent back in line and the next rookie given a chance.

You are talking like we have fast bowlers falling from every tree we shake. It is not the case. If we had so much talent, we could have ignore a few, but no we do not have. We need to utilize every talent we have very well, especially in fast bowling department.

Nothing is guaranteed mate , but following games of these 2 , one can see Nechim being a better bowler deserves a chance first.

Mithun has better domestic record than this tiny bowler

Joginder sharma has best record and even irfan pathan since 2008 has bowling average of 18 in Ranji trophy but fact is guys like nechim have pace and can swing the ball too,Where as with mithun he is a one dimensional bowler .I have followed him form u-19 worldcup he was quick then too.Hope he has a great ipl and gets his due and plays odi cricket for india.

Abhishek Nayar, Pujara and Rayadu in the first innings and so far Motwani, Pujara and Suraj Kumar Yadav in the second innings. Excellent performance. :two_thumbs_up: Hope selectors take note of him at least now. And he will get more opportunities as East Zone look set to reach the semis against all odds.

Trust me i am a veteran of TMS, i can handle it..... but honestly guys. Nechim is still young and who knows he maybe given a call soon is he has 2-3 stellar seasons. But i did read the autobiography of Fletcher. He prefers tall strong bowlers. For bounce etc. I am pretty sure he is unhappy with what he has been given with Vinay and Mithun as well. Over time no doubt Fletcher will push for tall bowlers who are well built and bowling consistantly more than 85mph. In his autobiography he was particularly critical of the type of player like Craig White/Mark Eelham who he thought was too short to be a fast bowler.
