Sir john Posted December 17, 2011 Posted December 17, 2011 he is a medium fast bowler. :congrats: to TP.
rkt.india Posted December 17, 2011 Posted December 17, 2011 5 matches' date=' 34 wickets@15 for him now. Not sure the kid of speeds he has been bowling at, in Challenger trophy he was around 128-133, and was getting a lot of movement.[/quote'] swing and movement poses a lot more difficulties for Indian domestic batsmen in India rather than pace because of low bounce and slow pitches.
vishalvirsingh Posted December 17, 2011 Posted December 17, 2011 This surprises me always......VK is a mega success in Indian domestic crick.......TP now.....Pankaj Singh - also a big Success..... And when they play international- they look most unlikely to get A wicket..... Pankaj was Unimpressive whenever He played at highest level....VK- also has hardly done anything of Notice and he has got enuf oppurtunities in 1 days......if I have to give pankaj a score...I wud give him a 3 and VK a 4 out of 10.....so what I wanna say is I don't count these Large number of wickets much. I am sorry but I am not Impressed

I am sorry but I am not Impressed we both hate tundlers but vk picked wickets in odis after the england series he did swing the ball and was very consistent its people like mithun who are selected w/o any performance, form that are worry i can understand vk selectors might ve thought he is consistent in odis might do job (which is unlikely) well gonna search abt ishant now .. this guy is scaring the **** out of me lmfao
jf1gp_1 Posted December 18, 2011 Posted December 18, 2011 ^ Because Trundlers on their own do not win you Test Matches or series. do you know the speed at which kapil or mcgrath bowled ?
Blue Panther Posted December 18, 2011 Posted December 18, 2011 Now u guys know how a trundler can have best domestic record but he has no potential to be a international bowler. Vk is a prime example of getting selected due to his good domestic record.
Needforspeed Posted December 18, 2011 Posted December 18, 2011 do you know the speed at which kapil or mcgrath bowled ? Kapil during most of his career bowled in the 135+ category, but I dont think he reallly touched 140. When Kapil began his career, most of the broadcasters were not giving the ball speeds. Kapil had fantastic control, bowled close to the stumps and moved the ball both ways. But towards the end of his career he was bowling at around 115-120 and it was pathetic to see the great man at times bowling at Ajay Jadeja's pace. In the end he had to be virtually forced to Reitre. Mcgarth was in the 140-142 category when he was at his prime, but later cut down on his speed, but was still bowling at 132-135 range at the time of his retirement.
kubrickian Posted December 18, 2011 Posted December 18, 2011 I think to be really effective as a strike bowler in tests, you need to be around the 135-140+ mark and also swing the ball and hit the right areas on a consistent basis. That's why Broad, Bresnan, Anderson were so effective in the last series and we struggled to even get them out once. Of course, there are exceptions like Zaheer Khan, McGrath and Mohd Asif etc. who have the experience and have a special talent but as a rule, bowling around 120-125 doesnt cut it at the international level.
chainsmoker1985 Posted December 18, 2011 Posted December 18, 2011 He hardly bowls at 120 k. Mostly b/w 115-120. Once in a bluemoon touches 123k. Might be gud 4 Our domestic batsmen, not for int. Ranadev bose was much better than him
Vilander Posted December 22, 2011 Posted December 22, 2011 do you know the speed at which kapil or mcgrath bowled ? Taller fast bowlers who bowl slower like Pollock,Magrath, kapil may not be called trundlers, cause they can get steep bounce. Trundler is a slow straight bowler like Mithun.
