Mithun aims for precision, not speed

Young Abhimanyu Mithun also appeared eager and enthused and rapped Sehwag a number of times on his pads. He also induced edges which seemed to upset Sehwag.
Wonder if it is a reflection on Mithun's bowling or Sehwag's batting?

I wonder he has time to do that since he is usually busy writing poetry, doing yoga, practising ayurveda, dancing at weddings, playing piano, acting in ad films, getting tatoos, loving god, getting slapped here and there, and finally denying that he has got slapped ever. Everything excepting improving his game!

Pathan's speed will come up to low 80s mph if he plays a bit without injury. He was not always 84-85mph when younger though. His hat trick is evidence of that.
He had already lost his pace, bite, and action by the time he took that hattrick. That hattrick just came as a huge surprise and was out of the blue. If anyone remembers those days, will know that talks of him being dropped were in the air before that test and the green on the pitch forced team management to play him. That hattrick was more of a fluke than anything else for me. Remember his early games in Aus, watch those videos and you will realize how his bowling action changed so much after that. He was very good side-on action bowler and also had a great run up, but he lost both, I do not how and why it happened, may be lack of practice or too much coaching stuff from likes of Akram, etc, which happened on those days when India toured Pak and he met different coaches there and also in WI. I would like to emphasize that a front on action does not suit Indians apart from Aaron, as it requires strong shoulders and arms to generate pace, while in side on action, bowler uses his whole body rotation and quick whip to generate pace. This happened with Irfan, he became more of a front on bowler later in 2 years rather than the side-on he was when he first came. Even in Aus, he used to bowl between 130-140k, not express but for a swing bowler it was good, was more in 135K range, some times going over, but in 2 years time he dropped to 120-125K with a significant change in his action. He now still barely cross 80 mph which is too slow even for a swing bowler with not much bounce he gets because of lack of height.

Aaron's approach and run up isn't smooth..At times it looks he is not comfortable with his run-up? And this is what Sanjay Manjrekar says in his article in cricinfo. When I watched Aaron the first time I saw so many things to like about him, like the obvious pace and the wrist position every time he delivered the ball, but his bowling action and run-up looked a little manufactured - as if somebody had got hold of him early and put golf balls in his armpitsWhat's your opinion on Aaron's action and run-up?

Agree. It is not natural and not fluent. He can certainly generate even more pace with better run-up, action is okay.

Aarons action overall is not bad, he can shorten his runup a bit as he wastes his first few steps then hops skips, he can have a shorter run up, run with more intent and more naturally , somehow he doesn't move his arms and body that much, also his jump could be a bit more pronounced,he certainly can bowl in 150's and his injury is minor.:two_thumbs_up:
